I own the Jackary 240c and my Nomad-50 has no problem charging my Jackary. Plus I can chain my Nomad-10 and Nomad-20 to my 50 to make 100 which charges my Jackary even faster. I chose the Jackary over the Yeti because of price.

@@ScottfromCalifornia One thing that surprised me was that the newer Goal-Zero has the same plugs as the Jackary so there is no need for a conversion kit like in earlier versions. What I did was to calculate my entire power needs (batteries, laptop, phone, lights) and then buy the next size up because I WILL buy something else or someone in my group WILL bring a friend with their needs. Thus, I calculated my needs to be around 12 so bought the 240.

You made an excellent video. I appreciate it. After weeks of watching videos, I bought a 200X and a Nomad 50 a few days ago. The Nomad 50 fits perfectly under the windshield of my camper van. It also blocks the radiant heat from my windshield, which is good because of the extreme heat here in Oregon right now. I may add a 2nd Nomad 50 or something larger when the weather gets cooler. Always remember: volts x amps = watts. Watts is a unit of electrical power. I found some excellent free (14-day) wilderness campsites in a national forest high in the Cascade Mountains, and I'll probably stay here for a few weeks. I'm getting a good wifi signal here. I'll be testing this system thoroughly. So far, it looks very promising. It's not enough power for my refrigerator but I bought some dry ice for that. I have a couple of $30 Dorcy solar-powered lights that can also be USB-charged. My vehicle charged everything on the 3-hour drive here, including the rear deep-well battery. This is going to be so much better than charging things with a V-8 engine. lol

I like that flexible lighting. I have a yeti 3000 and a yeti 500x. Love the portability of the 500x. It powers the Dometic cfx50w. It is able to power it for around 36 hours, and it takes 10 hours to charge from 0%.

@@ScottfromCalifornia No problem, Scott Actually, it powers my Dometic fridge, cfx50w, for about 30h, and charging it takes about 8h. I have just purchased a 1000x. My 3000 was too heavy. Sold it. FYI .. The 1000x has a surge of 3500, 500 more than the old 3000, and it has a continuous charge of 1500, just like the old 3000. The 1000x also weighs only 31 lbs

I have the same 200x and Nomad 50 and use it to power a small 12v portable refrigerator. On battery power only I get between 5 and 6 hours max, depending on the ambient temperature. The 200x can be solar charging and run the fridge at the same time, which is great for daytime hours, and as the sun sets, it kicks back into battery only mode. I would have liked to have had the 500x model to have more battery life, however, it was cost prohibitive for me, perhaps in the future. For now, I also have a 12v cigarette lighter connection to my truck and I will run the fridge off of it for the few hours in the evening, then put it on the 200x for overnight. If I set the temp on the fridge to eco mode at 32 degrees it will run on battery for about 7 hours in the cooler evenings. The other thing about this setup it that it is very portable, not small of light enough for backpacking, but certainly doable for shorter hikes into a primitive camping spot for a weekend. Overall I am very impressed with the build quality and the usability of such a small system.

Hi amd thanks for the video. I moved to Panamá and recently got a GZ Boulder 50 and it gives up to 53 watts even using the GZ 30 feet extension cord (they say there is less loss with the 15 feet cable). I always see people saying things like “the GZ Boulder 100 only gives up to 60 watts even in full sun… It depends on where in the world you are and I know that, that is why I am getting up to 53 watts from my GZ Boulder 50). My question (considering your location) how many watts this GZ Nomad 50 gives you? Is it as efficient as the Boulder line? Thanks from a Venezuelan viewer!

@@ScottfromCalifornia Thanks so much for answering! I do not know too much about solar life, I am learning. Depending on where you are you are going to get more or less power based on the angle of the sun, even though you have a full sunny day, the closer to the equator you are the more power you get from the sun (because of the angle), this is why I am having up to 53 Watts, the Sun trajectory here is almost perfect . I use “Sun Seeker“ app on my iPhone and it is amazing how it shows in a very easy and visual way the angle of the sun across the 12 months, fully recommended app. Again, thanks for answering

Funny enough I use it more at home than camping. Couple examples: I have an air pump/compressor that was given to me but only has a 12V plug (made for keeping in your car)...well now that I have this I can use it to put air in the tires of mine and my kids bicycles whenever we need it. Also, it’s great to bring to the lake/beach to keep our phones plugged in and charged (I live close to a lake). Great question! Never thought I’d use it more at home than camping...but I actually do! 😁🙌🏻

Thanks, Scott. Great unboxing. Would be great to know how long in decent sun it takes for the Nomad to get to 50% 75% and 100% charge. How long does it take to charge from the car/wall? I am thinking about the same combo, but up here in Canada they are expensive!
@ScottfromCalifornia
@ScottfromCalifornia 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and I agree on knowing the length of charge time! I took it out camping recently but my campsite was super shady so I never got to use my Nomad 50 too much. It charges up from the wall decently fast...but I haven’t timed it yet. Goal Zero says that 5-10 hours to charge the 200X with the Nomad 50....so I’d estimate 3(ish) hours to 50% maybe? Then 1-2 hours per 25% after that? (Depending in sunlight). But I will say, the 200x lasted me a whole weekend of charging mine and my wife’s iPhones and Apple watches, as well as my camera batteries and running that led strip ...and I never got close to 0%
@Bazzasphotolife

With the nomad 50 could you attach a multi port usb buddy to charge multiple devices with just the panel?

There is only one USB A wire/port that comes installed directly on the Nomad 50. Now if you had a splitter off that…I don’t know, maybe? I’ve never tried that though and don’t know if it’s possible.
