Yaya seems to have a short memory. The very first time he played Matic, Matci had him in his pocket. This was the “Mourinho Tactical Masterclass” game look it up, Jose vs Pep for the first time since Jose rejoined Chelsea again. Matic nullified Yaya in the midfield allowing Hazard, Ramires, Willian and Eto to run amock on the counter. Chelsea would end up winning this game handsomely.

His biggest challenge in Spain was that played under Pep at the start of the tiki-taka era. This is a manager who got rid of Toure and Ronaldinho, swapped Eto'o (and a $ ton of money) for Ibrahimovic, then got rid of him too. When they were desperate Barca used him as a bit like a super sub. They'd push him up from defense, use him as an advanced sweeper and expect him to work miracles in the final stages of the game. My reasoning is they had invested too much in the La Masia graduates and had to use them, even though they had better players in the squad. They didn't even use Mascherano in midfield and resigned Fabregas for no reason at all. They could have had Van Persie for example.
