Although I agree with the tone, maybe slowing down the speed slightly would improve the atmosphere. At times, it felt like you were trying to get through this story as fast as possible and move on with something else. @@RoanokeTales Yeah. Maybe some more emotion relating to the position you’re in as you’re telling the story (for example, in the story about the evil Lightning McQueen, you could’ve added a little bit of fear or exhaustion in your voice since the protagonist is in a motel shortly after what took place. However, in this story, it does make sense.

it also makes it a whole lot creepier because a creature that just wants to kill is understandable. animals kill people all the time for a variety of reasons... but if it doesn't actually try to kill anyone that means it's not just an animal. you have to wonder what are its motives, what is the end goal, and just what is it thinking. that uncertainty is really spooky on a whole new level.

I love this story of the Goatman. I've heard someone narrate it before and have read it a few times, but I love the way you narrate it. It literally sounds like a buddy of mine walked over to me and was like, "Dude, I gotta tell you about the creepiest thing that happened to me this weekend." And proceeds to tell me this story. This story is so creepy and gets under my skin because of how Goatman just straight up messes with these kids when he could have killed or hurt them at any given moment

I read a theory on this story about a year ago that was pretty interesting. The goat man is lonely and not interested in harming humans at all. Given that it’s the only (or last) of it’s kind it shapeshifts amongst groups of humans in an attempt to understand them better and enjoy the company in its own way. It can make itself look like us but it doesn’t fully grasp how to mimic normal human behavior, hence the stares and slack jawed gaze of the copies. This comes across as scary to the teens but it doesn’t intend for it to be. The stare at the end of the story is essentially it saying a silent “farewell.” Doesn’t really account for the disappearances of the people though.

@@RoanokeTales I'm not much of a storyteller, so forgive me if it's a little short. This happened about fifteen years ago give or take a year or so, my memory is kinda foggy on the event. I spent the majority of my childhood on a reserve which was right beside a pretty large lake compared to other lakes of the area. So my cousin, let's call him B, and I were playing around outside, doing whatever kids did on a hot summer day, and B's grandfather comes out from his house and asks us if we would like to go with him to his trailer on the other side of the lake and us having nothing better to do said "yes" excitedly. So we jumped into his old chevy and we drove for what felt like forever, which in reality is only a 40 minute drive. But you know kids, time seems to pass by slower when your sitting still. I feel myself get heavy and I fall asleep on the way there. I'm jolted awake by a quick shove from B and him telling me that we're here. So we jump out and we're about to go and play but B's grandfather stops us and tells us to be careful and to not go into the surrounding woods, we didn't think much about it and we ran straight to the water to play and cool off. B's grandfather went off to do whatever he went there to do. A few hours went by and the sun starts to get close to the horizon, we start to get hungry so we bug B's grandfather to start a fire so we can roast some hot dogs. By the time we're done eating the sun had already past the horizon and it started to get dark and a little chilly. So B and I are huddled by the fire lighting little twigs on fire drawing stuff into the dirt around the fire pit. B's grandfather runs inside to grab some pop for B and I and we were left alone for what was probably only 50 seconds or so. In that time B had noticed that it got eerily quiet like not a peep from anything, including the mosquitoes, and we heard branches snap from the treeline and it started to smell really bad like roadkill left on the side of the road in the summer heat for a week. B is focused on the direction where the sound came from but I have a feeling that something is staring right at us from behind. So I turn around, expecting to see like a deer or something, and I see what looks like a huge grizzly about twenty feet away. It was standing on it's hind legs, but not like how you expect a bear to stand like paws outstretched to the front like a normal bear but it's paws was by it's side like a human. It looked scraggly, decayed, like it was dead for a couple weeks or so and the hide looked like it was just hanging off the bones of the creature. I'm frozen with fear and B is still looking the other direction, the silence is shattered by a single rifle shot aimed straight at the creature by B's grandfather and the damn thing just punches straight through the creature, it didn't move, no blood came from the wound. The sound jolts me out my paralysis and scares the ever living shit out of B, by the time B turns around the creature is gone, I didn't even see it move and B's grandfather comes racing to us, grabs a burning branch from the fire pit and leads both B and I to his truck, yells at us to jump in and lock the doors and to close our eyes and plug our ears, we can hear the fear in his voice as he's barking out orders. He goes off with the makeshift torch and searches around the trailer for the thing. A couple of minutes go by and we hear a knock on the window and it's B's grandfather telling us to open the doors now it's safe. that's all the time I have for now I gotta go to work I'll finish the rest of the story when i have the time

Jesus Christ, this is one of the few stories that gave me chills. Long story and I'm bad at writing, so bear with me... I repressed this memory until I heard this. I'm from Louisiana and have had a bunch of spooky things happen my family in my lifetime, but this really hit close to home. About a dozen years ago, my brother had joined the National Guard and we went to get him after graduating boot camp. On the way there, we stopped at a fairly empty motel in Oklahoma, near Fort Sill. My brother had some down time before he had to do something else, him and 5 guys in his unit hopped in the truck and went back to the hotel to drink/rest/swim. Of the 6 other guys in total, I personally knew 2 (my brother being one). Most of us went swimming, and after about an hour, the weather went from being 90 degrees and sunny to maybe 60 and raining, but we only went inside after we heard thunder. After swiping the card and opening the room's door, I was hit by an awful smell and could tell by the look on my brother's face he smelt it too, but the others seemed unfazed by it. I figured one of the guys jerked it in the microwave and set it on high for an hour. So we sat in the room and I watched as they passed a bottle around and talked. I couldn't stand the smell, so I kept suggesting ideas for places to go and each time I said something, the thunder would get louder. Once the storm died down, we stood outside the room, resting on the rail and some of them audibly breathed a sigh of relief and my brother said "what the fuck did you do to make that smell?", asking the general group. They all made remarks like someone else left a beefer in the toilet or something, and since they had recently gone through their gas mask training, it was unpleasant, but not as bad as CS gas. I got the group somewhat sober and we headed to a Walmart to get some munchies and along the way, I looked in the rear-view mirror and noticed that we were down a guy. I told my brother, who was riding shotgun, "did someone stay behind" and pointed out the back. He looked back and counted a few times, opened up the rear window and yelled "shit, Diaz, do a head count back there!". "Uhh I'm countin' 4!" he yelled back. "Well who stayed at the hooker station?", asked my brother. "Uhhh... No one. Everyone got up and left at the same time. Y'know marijuana affects the memory, right." replied Diaz. Right after him saying that, another one of the guys said he remembered a fifth wheel riding back with them, while the others said there was only 4 of them in the back and he was just saying there was a fifth because he's still drunk. We looked around for some candy, "ready to microwave" bacon, and cans of spaghetti and meatballs, and heard the sounds of police car sirens, fire trucks, and ambulances race by outside. We shrugged it off saying the storm probably knocked a tree over in the road and someone hit it or something. After we checked out, we got back in the truck, did another head count and went back the motel. As we pulled up to the motel, we saw about half a dozen cop cars and the fire truck and ambulance. Our first reaction was "fuuuuck, hope we can at least get back to the room". We parked and walked around to the back where the room was and immediately the owner/manager guy pointed at us and said "THEM!!!" while talking to someone who looked like a cop was writing something on a his small notepad. I quietly said "okay, everybody stay calm, drinking in a hotel is legal in Oklahoma, right?" and the group nodded. I stayed motionless while the cop approached us and said "please put the bags down and stand over here" gesturing towards the back of the parking lot. The cop asked me to step aside and we walked a good 20 feet and the cop asked me if I knew everyone in the group. I told him "Well, that one was my brother, the kinda fatter one, that's his friend. The other three, I don't know. They graduated from the National Guard stuff recently and I went out of state to get him." Cop goes "Six of y'all? Okay, and is that all?" I paused and said "yessir". He asked "you weren't with anyone else...? The manager said you were with another guy that looked like [gave general descirption]". I could feel my heart sink and I replied, "well, that describes four of us. They're in the military... Well, National Guard, they're all relatively thin, medium height, not really fat, but not swoll, they all have really short hair..." "Alright, go back there and I'll be with you." He pointed with his pen. I knew the cop described the guy that went missing and I told my brother and the other guy "we did have a number 7 with us, right? When I picked you up, y'all 6 hopped willy nilly into the truck, right?" and us 3 agreed. "What's the powwow for? What'd the 5-0 want", Diaz said while he walked up to us. "We were just saying that we were just imagining the extra guy and the cop didn't really say." The manager walked up to us and basically cussed us out as something came over the cop's radio. The cops looked pretty shook up, got back in their cars and most of them sped off, with the one who questioned me, walking back up to me, causing the manager to step aside, and told me "you're fucking lucky punk" and eventually he sped off too. The manager yelled at us more before we just asked him what his deal was. Before he could say anything, his cellphone rang and he answered, talking erratically and then yelling in some foreign language. In so many words, he was accusing us of killing some women. Saying "THAT GUY" with us looked shady and since he's not with us, he's obviously guilty, and while we were gone, he went to his brother's hotel and killed some people there. We called him crazy and grabbed their duffel bags and loaded up the truck, since most of the others lived in Louisiana too, I offered to just drive them back too. The worst part was the long silence on the way back, coupled with the reality that something wasn't right and no one knew that other guy's name and don't remember a name patch being on him anywhere. By the time I got home with my brother, we passed a bunch of motels several more of them had cop cars all over the parking lot.

I gave up on creepypastas for about two years now because all of the writing was overthetop and ridiculous and the storytelling was overly dramatic. This was great! On a side note, as a Native American from Northern Wisconsin, we also have stories of a Goatman. There’s warnings not to whistle at night, and Goatman is one of them. If you do while outside, he mimics your whistle. Then from different stories I’ve heard, different things happen. Sometimes it’s a simple taunt, to keep you from not being foolish at night. Other times he pursues you for a while. Also I got a chuckle, at what I’m guessing was your pronunciation of “Menom”’ like the word “venom” at 5:12. If that’s the word, it is pronounced “muh-nahm”. Short for Menominee “muh-nah-min-ee”.

I would love to know the normal speech patterns of the person who wrote this story, because it's either written brilliantly, or it was written by someone with a very juvenile vocabulary, and I really cant decide which.

About a year ago I found your channel. And then lost it when I couldn't remember the name because I'm subscribed to so many. I have tried to work my way down the list but I'm literally subscribed to 1000. (My regular YT channel. Not this one.) Storming where I live and decided to look up "Alabama cryptids". Clicked on yours in search results. Low and behold❤🎉

FYI: If you are swimming in a creek near Huntsville, Alabama, it's probably late spring, summer or early Fall. It's not dark at 7pm until Nov- Mid March. Details matter when you are watching this in Alabama around the same time of day it's supposedly happening and it's still light out.
