It is such a powerful moment when Scrooge looks up and sees his family there. I remember the first time I saw the film, that's where I really lost it. This is such a beautiful song and it's lyrics are completely true.

I've always liked the older Christmas movies so much more than newer ones. Please don't get me wrong...there are many wonderful currant movies today. Cool affects these days. Beautiful picture and color,too. But there's just something about the old one's that make me get all choked up inside.
@jamesb166162 жыл бұрын
In my honest opinion, “A Christmas Carol” is basically The Lord’s Prayer. Scrooge asked for forgiveness, which was his debt. He forgot all owed to him, forgiving his debtors. He turned away from greed, and not led into temptation And he stopped being corrupt, and delivered from evil.
@Adamguy200315 жыл бұрын
Well, as I recall, Scrooge started to "get it" during the Christmas Present segment, but this part (The end of the Christmas Future segment) was what really fully drove home the message for him and completed his inner change. This is such a beautiful song with such a lovely message, it always touches me inside.
@jamesb166162 жыл бұрын
That’s partially true. He tried to hide from the past, only to find that he couldn’t, which affected how he lived in the present. How he lived in the present affected how the people around him lived in the future.

And as he sang… his sadness transitioned to joy as soon as he saw his mother and sister. I translated it that he was aware that they were atill with him in spirit. He still felt their love, their greatest gift.

I believe it is them. I loved right after they appear, the way Scrooge strongly and joyously joins in singing the last verse of the song. Seeing that, you can tell that he really has changed and intends on putting the messages of that beautiful song into practice in his own life from then on.

Is just me or ris the tombstone breaking a sign that is future already has begun to change?
@Adamguy20035 жыл бұрын
Yes, indeed! The tombstone breaking was meant to symbolize that the course of events has been changed, and the bleak Christmas future that Scrooge has seen will not come to pass.

Yes, that is Kelsey Grammer. As a matter of fact, he's my second favorite Ebeneezer Scrooge of all time. Patrick Stewart is first, with Michael Caine rounds out my Top 3. For those who may care, George C. Scott is my fourth favorite, and good old Scrooge McDuck from Mickey's Christmas Carol make my Top 5 Favorite Ebeneezer Scrooges.

My theater friends and I do a song with a style similar to this scene. in Musical Theatre Village's version of A Christmas Carol after Scrooge sees his name on the tombstone a couple of ghouls come on stage to torture him but are then stopped by the Angel of Fan then she and other Angel Dancers dance around while The Ghost of Jacob Marley, the 3 Ghosts of Christmas and some Carolers sing O Holy Night with candles

There are plenty of churches and other groups which can provide you with opportunities to help out in your community and make a positive impact on others. For instance, this afternoon, as part of a volunteering opportunity through my church, I'll be delivering a Christmas poinsettia to an elderly man in the hospital. Not much, but hopefully it'll help him have a merrier Christmas.
