Salam alaikum to all brothers and sisters regardless of faith, ethnicity, or background. This video explores the essence of divine omnipresence and the interconnectivity of all religious faiths through the eyes of one of the most influential philosophers in Islamic mysticism.
Who is Ibn Arabi?
Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi, born in 1165 in Murcia, Spain, was a prominent Sufi mystic, philosopher, poet, and scholar. Widely recognized across the Muslim world for his deep spiritual insight and intellect, Ibn Arabi's work significantly shaped the development of Islamic thought. His life's work was devoted to explaining and elaborately presenting the unity of existence, or "Wahdat al-Wujud," a cornerstone of his philosophical and spiritual teachings. He traveled extensively through the Islamic world, leaving a lasting impact through his writings and teachings, particularly evident in his famous works like "Futuhat al-Makkiyah" and "Fusus al-Hikam."
The Universal Message of Ibn Arabi
Ibn Arabi insisted that while diverse religious practices seem different outwardly, at their core, they all worship the same divine reality. This concept is powerfully echoed in his interpretation of Surah 2, Ayah 115 of the Quran, which states, "Wheresoever you turn, there is the Face of God." This verse significantly highlights the all-encompassing nature of God, emphasizing that the divine is not confined to any one creed, culture, or location.
Bridging Faiths through Understanding
Ibn Arabi advocated for an open-minded approach to spiritual practices, warning against the dangers of confining oneself to a single perspective, thus missing out on the broader truths offered by various traditions. He taught that all religions are different paths leading to the same ultimate reality-the beloved Lord. His teachings promote peace and harmony by encouraging acceptance and respect for diverse religious expressions.
Quotes from Ibn Arabi in the Video
The video features pivotal quotes from Ibn Arabi that illustrate his message:
"So long as the Reality is presented to them according to that conception, they recognize Him and affirm Him."
"Beware, lest you restrict yourself to a particular [spiritual] practice, and so deny all the other practices."
"God, Most High, is too All-Embracing and Great to be confined in one creed rather than another."
"Wheresoever you turn, there is the Face of God."
The Path to Universal Compassion
By embracing Ibn Arabi's wisdom, we learn that fostering mutual respect among different faiths is not just a spiritual or moral approach but a necessary path to global peace and coexistence. His profound insights into the nature of divine presence in all directions and within all doctrines offer a blueprint for how humanity can coexist more harmoniously.
Join us in exploring these transformative teachings that invite us to see the face of God in every direction, and to recognize that our shared origin points us towards a future where peace and understanding prevail across all divisions. Let this video be your guide to understanding that the vast, intricate mosaic of human belief is unified by a single, ineffable truth-the presence of the divine in all aspects of life.

I so agree. God is infinite, how can we confine God to one book or one religion? Every where I turn I see the face of God. I see the face of God in Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity etc....

Yes indeed, like how there are a variety of fruits, each having a unique flavor, yet they all provide nourishment and sustenance. Who are we to know why God, in his infinite wisdom created all these fruits, and all these religions? All I know is by submitting to that which is greater, we can lead better lives for ourselves. Thanks for the comment, it’s refreshing to hear that others see God’s wisdom inherent in all the religions.

@@echoes-of-wisdom Exactly! It is clear to see that God creates things in diversity. As you pointed out there are many types of fruits, nuts, seeds, beans, greens, grains etc... why not just 1 type? What is the one true grain? What is the one true fruit? Such a question imo doens't even make sense. But people think there should be a 1 true religion, which makes no sense to me. Imo, we need to learn to purge these false idols of divisiveness and learn to not only tolerate but appreciate other forms of religion, as they are all just unique forms of submission to the Absolute that some call God. As Miester Eckhart once said: "Theologians may quarrel, but the mystics of the world speak the same language.”
