I am Chinese. I have been to NZ 23 years now! I came here alone with 25kg travel bag 22 years ago. I finished university here, and now I am a mom with 2 strong boys. Our family loves nz, we are kiwi 🥝 now. ❤️ we love nz people, friendly, kind, open-minded. Nz is our country. I keep telling my boys, we need to do our best to contribute to our country nz. No matter where you boys go in the future, never forget nz raised you and do your duty when nz needs you.

The Kiwis were the first commonwealth nation to aid us in WWII, later that day, Australia joined them, then a few days later, Canada. To give what little strength a young nation has to fight for a nation you gained independence from an ocean away without thought for yourself at the outbreak of what would be the most devastating conflict we would ever see... Got to love New Zealand. On 9/11/2001 the people of New Zealand sang the American national anthem in honor of those who died in the World Trade Center. It shows the bond we share not only as two nations but as a people. Brothers till the end. God defend New Zealand! If there was a nation that learned how to keep it's beauty and give birth to such remarkable people, its New Zealand!

At my workplace during the 2 minutes silence, one week after the tragedy, we listened to the radio and they played this very version of the national anthem. A few sung, a few cried, but we all stood and bowed to remember all those who died. Never have I been more proud to be a Kiwi.

I'm not a native to New Zealand, but my boyfriend is. He's the whole reason I fell in love with this beautiful country. I didn't think there would be a country this beautiful but there is and it's New Zealand. The thought of living the rest of my life in New Zealand brings me great pride because I know how it's people love the country so. I'm from America and I hate it. I used to say I left my heart in New Zealand cause since 2009 I have been visiting her almost every year not only because of her geographical beauty but also because of “the Kiwis”, to me New Zealand is the only country where you able to have a decent conversation and able to get a reply for every single 100 attempts of greeting regardless of color which I wasn’t able to get that in other countries. Only in New Zealand, the westerners (once known as the colonel race) know that, that this country doesn’t belong to them but to everyone, where most of the lands are soon to be given back to the Maoris community (the aboriginal people of New Zealand). I like this anthem. It begins with the Maori version (which I don't understand but like listening to) and goes through a key change before moving into the English version. The theme is a universal one, asking a higher power for protection against the evils of corruption, envy and hate. As a people, unity is found through Love.... How that was defined in New Zealand in another matter....
