Depends on what you mean by 'need,' I suppose. We know what He wants; each of us, heart, mind and soul. And He was willing to sacrifice His Son to make that possible, so that we may have eternal life with Him. So, in a sense, there is nothing He lacks, but in another sense, He lacks every child who refuses His adoption offer.

I thought God had no control over people he gives us free will. Maybe he does need people to help other people change there minds or help like the moses story.

Robert Delgado Capetillo it's correct he doesn't need us but he chooses to use us. We are the hands and feet of Christ. We are to aid in the salvation of others. Even Jesus had to have disciples to first help found the church and then to carry it on throughout generations. If his followers wouldn't have carried on the church then Christ would have come for nothing. Sure God could have established Christianity in a different way but he CHOSE to use us out of love, and to give us purpose. Everything on earth has a purpose, as do we as humans endowed with a soul

It's not about what you understand, it's about truth, it is correct, God does not need us, He created us that we might reflect His love and freely choose to love/follow Him as our Creator in return but He certainly does not need us.

Francis&Fawn /Catholic&Danish I’m sure our Lord knows your struggles and is not condemning you over them. I think about the same thing - not because of PTSD but because it is hard to step out of my comfort zone. I try to think small and just ask the Lord to guide me through my day so that I may gather those I encounter into my heart so that I can bring them with me to Him when I go to Holy Communion the next time I go to Mass. if you spend your days alone because of your fear, pray for all who come to your mind and offer all you do at home by yourself to God as a gift. He will not waste it and will make good use of your offering. Offer your present torment and struggle as a gift for Him. He will help others through you, I promise. Your suffering will not be wasted. Jesus is truly with you!

@@chibimirmo I'm with you. I suffered really bad from PTSD (from cancer/chemo). It's often made me feel worthless and lose much faith. I use to pray to God that He heals me just so I can do His work again and be a good man. Though over time it became harder to pray. I hope things get better for you. You're not alone 🙏

@@chibimirmo no problem. Yeah I developed PTSD from when I was dying at the end of chemo. I was fortunate enough to survive late stage testicular cancer. But not without immense suffering during and after. Not much helped me but I always found it comforting when I would find that I wasn't alone. Practicing presence helped a good amount as well. I'm in the same boat. In general, our mission is to follow God's will and evangelize to those closest to us. How that looks in each of our lives will be different. A good way to start is to develop a habit of prayer and grow as close as we can to Jesus and Mary.

Most of us are not called to apostleship (as in the original meaning of one who is sent). But we're all called to discipleship, or becoming a student. So we just live the Greatest and Second Commandment to the best of our abilities, which is tough enough. His Will be done, of course, but I have a hard enough time loving God and loving neighbor.

Alexis McCormick don’t overthink or overspiritualize it. God calls you to love him with your whole being; and, to love your neighbor as yourself. If you don’t already have a spiritual director, find one; form a “prayer rule”, and stick to that, persevere in it. Begin smaller, practical; but, let it grow as time progresses. In terms of your neighbor, it can be expressed in such small ways as how you talk to the cashier, to how you drive, to how you tip your waiter at a cafe. Of course, if you are able to, serve in a soup kitchen, a homeless shelter, and in other things of this sort. But, again, don’t overly romanticize this, such as we American Catholics tend to do. Showing Christ on the road in how you drive, and in how you tip your waiter (don’t stick around to wait and see how they react, if you go above and beyond the standard 20%; leave it discreetly, and then also discreetly leave yourself: as much as is possible, strive to do good deeds “in secret”, if you will, not looking for attention or congratulations or praise on earth); this is all as important as the grand works of faith that we are so fond of reading in the lives of the saints. We must also heed the teaching of many of these saints to not worry about doing such greats acts of love, but to instead to small acts with great love.

Can you tell us what you've done to discern your mission and what prayer life you've led so far? Maybe you can also try doing things that interests you for example I'm trying to pray more right now but sometimes other than my personal intentions, I don't know what to pray for. Recently I've been watching priests vocation stories and I love all of them, so now I include our priests to my intentions and I love that I get to pray for them. Try serving God through your interests and talents for now while waiting for your mission. Hope this helps.

Just do your best wherever you are now, wherever our Lord has you. Pray for all of those you have been placed with. The rest will fall into place. Don’t worry if you don’t know the plan. I have a feeling it is like this for a lot us. If we become too aware we might try to do things ourselves and mess up what the Lord has in mind. Obey the commandments, go to Mass and make use of the sacraments. Love the people our Lord has put in front of you, especially the ones you don’t like.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I sometimes feel sad when certain things aren't going well for me, I end up feeling like God has left me out or forgot about me. My life isn't terrible but I do feel at times there's something more I could be doing, and also I feel guilty that I'm not in a position to use my talents the way I should.

Catrin Humphreys did you mean *not in Jesus? No. As a Catholic, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life God has given us here in His creation to represent Himself. So we, as humans, can understand His love for us. He is the Triune God. Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. If you don’t fully believe in Jesus, you aren’t believing fully in God.

Caterina Pierce I understand now, thank you. Please forgive me. Well, God our Father, Jesus, his only begotten son, and the Holy Spirit are one in the same. It’s the same omnipotent power. God sent Jesus to his creation to not only save us all, but to allow us to develop a relationship with God. To put a face to His power. His saving power of Grace & mercy. We could not/cannot look upon the face of God. It would be like staring into 79 billion suns. We would go blind, or perish. Therefore, he sent himself in human form (Jesus) for us to be able to theoretically put a face to God, Himself. When you believe in Jesus, you are actually believing in God. It’s quite a miracle. Don’t worry tho, when you love anything of God, Jesus, your neighbor, even your enemy, He is loving you right back!!! He is actually calling to you through that love you are giving/experiencing. And when it’s the darkest hours of our lives, He is the nearest to us, even if we can’t see Him or feel Him. Never worry about anything!! You--you specifically, as if you were the only soul ever created--are worth the life and death of her Son! Jesus and Mary would both offer Calvary just for you alone. The Church teaches us that they actually love you that personally and passionately! Your being a good Catholic or not doesn't add to or subtract from that love. Does a mom love her newborn less because he's useless around the house and has a poopy diaper? Does she wait until he's grown up and well-behaved to love him? Not in the least! With that assurance, we can "grow up" into better Catholics, not to earn their love, which we already have, but to work out our salvation and that of others. When the burglar, a highwayman died on the cross next to Jesus he was a heathen and a sinner. Yet, when he said:"When you go to Heaven, please remember me.", Jesus said:"You shall be with me in the Heaven." He did not rebuke him because he converted in the last moment of his life. Our past does not make us, it's what we choose to become. If we convert with the true desire to be God's children, our conversion will be genuine and God will accept us no matter what. Like Scott Hahn - I heard his Catholic testimony which amounted to him claiming to have researched the matter - thoroughly, whatever that means to him - and thus every single Catholic position was correct. Clearly Catholics have lots right - but everything! After hearing him try and justify Marian devotion, via bible typology, my research was complete - Catholics are not right about everything and Scott Hahn (and others) converted only because they wanted to - and not because research convinced them.
