I can see how it can seem inconsistent. My understanding of the Bible is that there are things that God allows to happen even though nothing is beyond His control. So yes, a hurrican can kill a dozen people (allowed to happen) yet in that same hurricane, thousands can be spared. It's a tough thought to wrestle with, and I honestly applaud you for being honest about it. I don't know why God does certain things and allows other things specifically. I just know that He is in control and that all things, good and bad, work together for His glory and our ultimate good. Keep wrestling with these thoughts, friend.
