Who am I?
Expert singing teacher, specialising in teaching children and young adults in singing and musical theatre. She has worked with the likes of The Saturdays for MTV, on shows such as Just the Two of Us for the BBC and many more. Throughout her years of teaching she has judged in many competitions, judging Lucy Spraggan, George Samson, amongst others who have gone onto succeed in the business.
I am the founder of Vocaltutor, (founded 2003) the UK’s largest vocal and singing tuition network and now The New Foundry Studios which opened in 2013.
I have worked with BBCTV on Just the Two of Us, with many celebrities including Natasha Hamilton of Atomic Kitten, plus has worked for ITV on many children’s TV programmes including The Worst Witch, as their vocal coach.

The reason that she changed the lyrics is that she made the song overall less sexual and more about a concept of a female goddess. That is something that she likes to do e. g. in Queendom :)

im pretty sure the reason why she decided to say ‘nananana’ instead of the lyric during that part of the song is because she wanted the cover to have less of a sexual tone :-)

Georgina, thank you for your wonderful reaction to Aurora. She is 22, and from Bergen in Norway. Aurora has been writing melodies since she was only 6, and song from 9. Among her covers are some breathtaking renditions, especially of "Teardrop" by Massive Attack, which I can very much recommend to check out. However, her greatest thing is her own songs, of which by her own admission she has written over a thousand, and lots of them can be found here on KZfaq. Aurora's stage performances are something else, and many fans say she is one of few artists whose live performances are as good, and in a lot of cases better than her studio recordings. Like yourself,I remembered her first from the cover of "Half a World Away" which she did for the 2015 John Lewis Christmas advert. Listen to any of her songs from her full concert at the Nidarosdomen in 2017, or her live performance at KEXP, and you won't be disappointed. A last note, you asked in your reaction about Aurora's hair; it is indeed her own hair, which was fairly long until about a year ago, and she then had it cut in the unusual short/long style which you will see in many of her videos since early 2018. Thank you again. I look forward to hearing and seeing more.

Love watching people fall in love with Aurora and her singing! Vocal coach reactions to her are the best. Absolute gold. Esp when they're confused at first then starry-eyed. Thank you for your videos, may 2020 be good to you! As completely unrelated as it is, as soon as Ms. Georgina started talking I closed my eyes and tried to figure out who her accent/general inflections (idk what the terms are really) reminded me of. And it's John Bradley who plays Samwell Tarly on Game of Thrones. They speak in almost the same exact way.

She sort of reminds me a bit of Bjork especially near the end “God is a Wooooman!” And that falsetto note near the end. And plus she has some of Bjork’s mannerisms. You should react to some of Bjork’s performances haha. She has a really unique voice. But the way Aurora sings it reminds me a little bit of “Human Behavior” too.

I believe the concept for the radio show she's performing this at is that they don't know which song they'll cover until an hour before the performance. I could be wrong, but I think that's how they've done it before.

Everybody compares Aurora to Kate Bush, and as a super fan of Kate Bush, I get that. But for me, she has a lot common with that other unique Northern Pixie : Bjork.

Very hauntingly beautiful and unique. Talk about unusual styles. The most unique mesmerizing memorable atavistic primordial style and shaman voice I’ve witnessed in over 30 years as a professional singer is a 14 year old Russian girl named Diana Ankudinova. Beyond amazing. When you youtube “ Diana Ankudinova river” you will know why she is garnering fans from around the world every day ( already over one million). Perhaps you have heard of someone similar? I haven’t. But she is so versatile that her rendition of “ it’s a man’s world” -the James Brown classic - is the best female version ever -never to be surpassed ( notice how her body gyrates in sync with the song). “ wicked game” ( she KILLS it wither her remarkable low register and creative spin that earmarks it as her own! “ Human” almost always performed by a man but Diana CRUSHES it again with her low register and growl That’s just the beginning. She has many more that blew my mind to kingdom come and professional singers and coaches are calling her the “ female Dimash” ( in terms of unique recognizable voices!) I personally would pay $1000 for a ticket if Di (Ana) and Di (mash) ever performed together in a concert. And according to an “ insider” it will happen ( and sooner than later). I would call it “ the Di & Di extravaganza” or “ Di 2 squared” Al

This is actually from a show where they are given a song and have 1 hour to come up with a cover version. You can see she has a chord/lyric sheet in front of her. I imagine the 'nanana's' were because she didn't have time to come up with the proper phrasing for it, especially not being a native English speaker.

Just found this channel searching for others reactions to this. The song Is written by two song writers from Sweden with additional lyrics by Ariana Grande. I am guessing the part of the song lyrics that are over sexualised are by Ariana. Aurora decided to drop those for this version. As Sweden is where the writers are from borders Norway, you can say that this song has found its way home!

Aurora was given this song to cover by the radio show she was on. She had never heard the song before, and only had a short time to learn it. English is not her first language, so the fast lyrics might have been too difficult to learn in such a short time.

Aurora is primarily a songwriter. Her lyrics are very, very deep and abstract, and will hit you as a wall. I will recommend this fantastic concert from the 1000 year old cathedral in Trondheim. The funny part is, Aurora really do not like God is a woman by ariana grande, the concept of this program, is that the artist shows up an hour before, get told what song to cover, and have 1 hour to rearrange the song, and change it, then rehearse before they go into the studio and sing it live.. 1 hour to make this song... in my opinion its better than the original, as the original is too screaming and plays on sex way too much. but that is my opinion :)

Love that you compare her to Kate Bush. They are equally uncomparable to anyone else. And that might be why they inspire the same feelings. I used to say that it was sad that I was born to late to marry Kate Bush, now I have to contend to having been born too early to marry Aurora. Not that I really believe that any man could ever really marry either one, they are both already married to the world.

IT's a cover, she can do whatever she wants with the song, modify the lyrics. Usually Ariana Grande lyrics are full of sexual innuendo, and that is not the style of aurora. Ariana has a beautiful voice but the lyrics of her songs...
