Base on how the king only refers to the glory of the empire and doesn’t mentions any gods, and how he mocks the olympian gods by calling them “little”, It seems like they don’t have gods but their power comes from taming beasts (like the basilisk) and the demons (like the Efreet).

Kratos went from “Olympus has sent a message AND I AM HERE TO DELIVER IT….” To “OLYMPUS I HAVE A MESSAGE AND I AM GOING TO DELIVER IT!”

One thing to note about this is that, apparently, the sword was sheathed when the Persian King went to grab a handful of the gold in the original PSP version of the cutscene, but stayed stuck in his hand and as a result clipped through his body in this version. This is a testament to how in-engine cinematics are still very much subject to the rules of a game engine and can bug out as a result, even if the lighting, camera angles, added effects, and animations make it look more like a separately CG cinematic.
