For me God of War wasn't about the final boss fight it was about what happened after that boss fight. It's wierd to say that about a GoW game but ending and the setup after that BK was stunning.

I’m really loving this game. And not just because I voice three characters in it. It’s a truly epic game.

What's Kratos' son's name? *BOI*

I assume you didn't go back and "sleep" after you spread the ashes? Once the credits rolls while walking back to Mímir, instead of doing all the optional stuff like they say to do, if you warp back home, and sleep, you will get the final cutscene and real credits (the final cutscene DOES set up the sequel in a nice sequel bait wait)

Anyone see similarities between God of War and Logan? An unstoppable killing machine with a rage like no other is past his prime and how has a child that could potentially go down the same dark path that they went so they try to make sure they don't all the while a crazy old bald man is giving advice? And when the bad guys piss him off he can still summon the rage and leave a trial of bodies 9 realms long.

For me the best part about this game was the axe MY GOD when it comes to your hand after throwing it, it feels so satisfing

I still love watching the director cry while reacting to all the positive feedback that the game was receiving. For five years of development on a reboot of a classic to a fickle audience, in the whole "singleplayer games are dying" world, where any change they do to the God of War formula could massively blowback on them and ruin them, and just not knowing how any of this would play out and being crippled with anxiety on the project you slaved for... And then feel that relief and wonder as wave after wave of positive reinforcement just hits you. It must have been one hell of a feeling

Love this game. I was burnt out on open world games. Kratos is really well done in this game. And the combat holy fuck so satisfying and incredible. Deff lives up to the hype. One of my new favourite games.

When Kratos said “leave my home” right before his first fight with Baldr, I stood up and walked out of my house.

Kratos is just as deep in the previous games as in this one, his humanity is simply put front and center in this game compared to the others. I love the new game, but I would be lying if I said it was my favorite in the series.

How could you think the ending was anticlimactic? That shit was epic and personal and it did effectively set up the sequel. Now freya wants revenge and kratos and Atreus are closer now then they have ever been, it was so epic how they tagged teamed fighting baldur and also baldur was a complex villain that you feel for since he’s lived most of his life with this curse of no feeling and you feel the impact of his death, he’s finally happy that he can feel but it’s too late and he never got to enjoy it and freya is now distraught. You can also see Kratos and how much he has changed by his final words to baldur, quoting his father and then saying “we must be better than this” he’s has grown very much as a person and I loved this game

Gotta say I really enjoy it when you review a game from time to time since if your taking the time to talk about it on your channel it's going to be a game you had fun playing and I love it when folks get excited talking about games they really enjoyed. And your on the money, you have to treat this game as the opening act to a new God of War trilogy. Remember in the OG GoW there was a lot of talk about the other gods, especially Zeus, but they set up Ares in the beginning as your big bad and in the end you take him down and it ends with Kratos becoming a god looking miserable on his new throne, his demons still with him. I loved how this new God of War subtly mirrored the original, a really finely crafted game def can tell a lot of love, sweat and tears went into this one.

Bought GOW digital deluxe on black friday last year..never played until the quarantine and I'm glad I waited...what an epic story and enjoyable combat to get you through

Even after thousands of times, throwing and recalling the axe is still soooooooo incredibly satisfying.

I like the fact that the ending boss fight wasn't telegraphed. It didn't feel like a ending boss fight like in the typical normal video videogame sense, it just felt like a culmination of things that had to happen. The ending "boss" was Kratos and his son spreading her ashes I really feel that ending boss fight wasn't so much for Kratos and us the player as it was for Freya's story. We just happened to be there for it. It has alot of weight to it as it connects to the central theme of the entire game...family.

I just beat it on wed and there is still a lot to do it is by far the greatest game I have ever played

Next games antagonist is primarily going to be thor i think cant wait for that o.o

I so hope in the sequel that the "Head" (Milmur) is a new comical weapon of some sort like having to throw head at a enemy and then explode with lazors out of his eyes. If you remember at the end the two dwarfs said they had plans for him. Make it happen Santa Monica! !

The final boss isn't the climax. It's actually a minor plot point to the majority of the story. The climax is getting into jotunheim and the father/son connection in that realm and through what they learn about Faye

This GoW was the first part of the series i played and its stunning, fantastic, emotional, amazing...the ending (and that..."illness-part" of the story) made me cry so hard an i love how Kratos slowly lets his emotion shine through his usual character, the little glimps of fatherly love and then his usual behaviour.

I absolutely loved the game. hands down best battle mechanics imo, great story and gorgeous environment. can't stop playing this masterpiece

Did you catch the infinity gauntlet easter egg in God of War? You find a "Shattered Gauntlet of the Ages" that has a text description hinting at the comics. But it gets even stronger if you find and socket the stones.

Did u notice after completing the story if you go to the realm between realms atreus says that the world serpent said he looked familiar and then mimir states that when the serpent battled Thor that he practically went back in time before he was born and if u pay attention at the drawings of when kratos gets killed in the last cutscene before they spread the ashes a serpent is coming out of atreus and according to Norse mythology Loki had two sons one being the serpent and well since atreus's name to the Giants was Loki ... Yeah

Okay... here's a question... i returned the game before i did this... but whoever has this game... can you go to the black Smith at the bottom of the tallest mountain in midguard... throw your axe anywhere and let it stay there... go to the top of the mountain and call it... how long does it take to come to you? I want to know if the time the axe takes to get to you increases as the distance increases...

I'm thinking of getting this game would I need to play any other game before this one to understand it or can I just pick it up and enjoy it

I think the other realms will be scaled in the next game. Contrary to popular opinion I think it'll only be a duology… *spoilers ahead* Where in the second game Kratos will die & Atreus will bring Ragnarok ending the Norse world & perhaps then heading to a new land with different pantheon. Egypt & one other place has been teased. The games following Atreus won't be "God of War" games, it'll probably focus more on adventure, story & exploration than all out action. I think that's why this game was so laid back on the action. It'll be Atreus's journey across earth.

I havent beaten it yet. Tough to say where im at because I've played at least 30 hours but I've been exploring a lot. But i have to agree with jeremy, the back tracking required if you want to complete everything whenever you get a new weapon is really annoying. Especially when a lot of those things are just regular chests that don't have great items. I wouldn't call myself a completionist. I'm not going to find all the ravens but the stuff i know i can finish i will so it feels like a lazy way to pad gameplay but at least during that time there's dialogue so it does help.

I don't get why people think kratos was not complex. I mean... he was always a father. The first very scene in the first game is a suicide attempt. Yes he was a killing machine and angry and ruthless. But there was so much conflict inside him all the time. He hated the gods, but hated himself even more. I remember a fight where he was fighting lots of clones of himself trying to defend his family. During the fight he would hug them to give his health bar to them. He gave up all his powers to be with his daughter and had to sacrifice her to save everyone. You had to press O hard, trying to get her away from you. Not to mention Pandora. It was so heart breaking and you could understand his rage. He was a tortured soul. The only reason we get so immersed in the new God of War, is because we remember all he went through. He was and he is a very complex man.

My nephew just picked up the GoW PS4 yesterday and has been at the new God Of War already! Thus far from what I've seen, yes I agree this new console is amazing, its features, capabilities, and the game itself are all incredibly awesome! I can't wait to see how this game plays out and to take a crack at it myself.

They have an Infinity Gauntlet Easter egg in there where you get this Gauntlet that you can equip three runes but overall you can collect 6 runes that used in said gauntlet can do some bad assery things. Check it out man

Having watched some gameplay, that part where you said you like the dynamic of the head on kratos' belt could be a little weird if you didn't know the head was alive and an actual character lol.
