It took me an insane amount of time to realize Magni and Modi's voice actors are none other than Troy Baker and Nolan North themselves. They are voice acting legends.

Can we just appreciate on how Atreus is such a useful AI companion

Tbh, Magni wasn't really that bad. He actually respects Kratos and the boy by saying "Actual Challenge" meanwhile Modi in the other hand was a real douchebag and kept trashtalking Atreus.

“Surrender the all farther demands it” Kratos - “no” Magni - “understandable have a nice day”

Gotta love how Magni is shown as a show off and a boaster, twirling his sword and flaunting his powers, where as Kratos exudes pure focus, having just barley finished cleaving Magni's skull clean in half before immediately turning his attention to the next threat like a true professional.

Those brothers were the kings of, “your mom” jokes.

I love how Modi reacts when you use Spartan Rage. Throughout the entire game, the Aesir think that Kratos is just a normal Giant wandering Midgard, hence why no one really takes him seriously or as an actual threat. Magni and Modi reflect this. But when Magni dies, Modi is shocked and puzzled. Not only because they were destined to survive Ragnarok, but also because only gods can really kill other gods. So how the hell did a mere Giant do such a thing? Then when Modi ambushes Kratos and Atreus, and Kratos activates his Spartan Rage, Modi realizes that what they're dealing with is _NO_ Giant... Hence why he was terrified.

The fact that Atreus at max upgrade can choke the opponent and continuously shoot arrows is amazing it’s also a blessing that he can’t die during the story so he’s a brilliant ai friendly

Modi's reaction to Kratos killing Magni is priceless. He goes from being smug to horrified in a heartbeat. He just realized this isn't an old man. This is Kratos the godslayer, the TRUE God of War.

Kratos changed so much - he would have punched that guy until his brain would burst before. Glad to see such a character development.

It's neat that the AI fits with the characters as well. Magni focuses on Kratos, the biggest threat, while Modi focuses on Atreus, the smaller one, which lets him stay smug and confident. If Kratos attacks him, he's quick to back off and let Magni bail him out. He can only confidently fight an opponent smaller than him.

I seriously love the way this fight starts. Kratos immediately telling Atreus to stay out of this one because “this fight is mine.” He knows what’s about to happen before the fight even starts lol. And then they actually threatened Atreus, and that was it that signed their death wish right then and there. Kratos did give them a chance too magni asked kratos to surrender to which he formally refused and that should’ve been the answer they happily walked away with.

I like how this boss battle highlights the main advantage Kratos has in regards to most Gods, his training, experience, and discipline. Magni and Modi are (probably) used to opponents who can not match their power and strength, resulting in an over-reliance on pure power and strength. Kratos, on the other hand, grew up mortal and had to learn how to properly fight and has experience applying that training to fighting Gods. Most notable in how he doesn't even acknowledge Magni and Modi's taunts whereas Atreus and Mimir both take the bait.

One little detail I just figured out that tells us a lot about Modi's cowardice is that when he jumps in front of Atreus to prevent him from running away, instead of walking on the right in order to circle Kratos and his son, he prefers to do a completely non-strategic move and walks sideways toward his brother, seeking for protection. He does all that while being provocative, but if you read through his maneuver and his body language, you can already tell that this character is the weakest of the brothers. Looking through the eyes of Sif broke me a little. I realized in the Ragnarok game that it had been Odin that sent Magni and Modi out to die knowing what they were up against. They were by all means jerks, but through Sif's eyes, they were her children sent by the All-Father to be slaughtered. *"Can't you see what's happening? He's not protecting us. Magni, Modi, our boys. We used to tell them stories by the fire. Do you remember? We would carve those wooden horses. We would play and laugh until the sun sank and they fell asleep in our laps. They were thrown at the All-Fathers' problems like brittle knives to a mountain face, and for what? What if Thrudd's next?"*

I love how Kratos is trying to prevent Atreus from going down the same path that he himself did. He's thinking, "I've been there son, it will lead to nothing but sorrow, pain, and ruin."

Modi freaking out is so much more impressive now. I mean yeah he saw his big brother die, but he lived with the knowledge that Magni literally couldn’t die until after Ragnarok. And Kratos killed him.

What really gave me chills throughout this entire game is the fact that the Norse gods were oblivious to Kratos being a god himself...like they keep fighting him thinking hes a giant and then he kills Magni and Modi is completely shaken...Kratos is the damn game changer that NO ONE called for!

I just realised, Kratos killed all the greek gods because he was in constant rage mode, and here norse gods (including Baldur) are able to equal Kratos only because he was trying to suppress his rage. The Norse Gods should better not harm Atreus at all cost... otherwise KRATOS WILL BECOME RAGNAROK

Fighting, shedding Bloth, and dying in honor of the Allfather. This and the fight against Baldr were so entertaining and worth every penny! Can not wait to fight the God of Thunder.

I think the biggest difference between the enemies in this game and the previous ones is that Kratos isn’t fighting with full strength. I’m the previous games Kratos ran around screaming the names of Gods and being about as calm as a lion with a mouth ulcer. He killed first then felt bad about it later then killed again. He only ever used his brain when he needed to think of s creative way to kill someone. However, in this game he’s much older and is trying to set an example for his son. He doesn’t want Atreus to take after his anger and to be like him. So he tones it back significantly. I think the most clear example of how strong Kratos is during this game (I’m talking boss fights and cutscenes excluding the temple) is when he fights Balder. He gets some good shots in but is ultimately no match for him in the end. But when he is close to discovering Atreus, Kratos flips his shit and turns the tables with his anger. Also here when Modi jumps him. He can’t do anything but upon seeing Atreus hurt, his rage flows freely and he just gets up and smacks modi around like a bitch. I think in the next game we will see Kratos unleash all his anger and go down fighting the Norse gods thus leading to the panel in Jotunhiem

I can see why Thor was pissed at Modi surviving and Magni dying. Magni reminds Thor of back when he was fit, fierce and completely fearless. Modi reminds Thor of how he is now - a fat drunk.
