I can feel him no matter how far he goes

Could I have some guidance? Last year I thought God was telling me who my future spouse was, I was sent back home suddenly after two years of living abroad suddenly, where he lives, I had had dreams and felt so strongly that he was the one, I felt like God had brought back the feelings I had lost for him, and after a few months I stupidly told him how I felt, and he didn't feel the same, I definitely did rush into things, I felt really let down and unable to trust myself spiritually that God told me these things, but since I've let go of my obsession of marriage and feel content in my singleness, I feel the peace of god, but when I pray for my future spouse he always comes to mind, but I don't know if he really is the one or how to know when the people around me simply say there is no way of knowing and God doesn't just tell you who you'll marry, I don't want to be led away from God's plan, but I don't know how I should go about it.
