I've been subscribed to their patreon for months now and their painting style is so refreshing. Going through the comment section and watching a lot of people essentially bash them or belittle them for no real reason is exactly why a lot of people don't respect mini painting as an art form. Because when actual artists try to express themselves in new or interesting ways; people are jerks about it.

That is so disappointing. Unquestionably, Marko and Aleksandra are extraordinarily talented and bring a very joyful and expressive if - certainly - different style to the hobby. Okay, view of it is extremely subjective, and maybe their style is not for some particular individuals, but that certainly does not justify criticism of a demeaning sort. Taking offense at what one sees in this video is just plain foolish; if it's not for you, okay, just decide not to take offense and move on. Sadly, that's too much for some, I guess ...

It's exactly the process my tattoo artist use when she's tattooing my skin, i found it ugly but at the end it's a photorealistic paint. More or less here, he starts adding colors that, makes no sense to a non trained person, and then it all starts to make sense. Not divine powers, just practice and talent! Amazing video

This painting technique is obviously not for everyone. I LOVE looking at the art from Craftworld, but I don't think I would try and copy Marko, which is fine, we all have our own styles. But even though Marko's style is not my style, there really is a wealth of knowledge contained in this video that I think will help me grow as a painter. I think there are nuggets of wisdom here that can be applied to any painting style, and I appreciate the time everyone took to make it. I feel like there are tons of paint-by-number miniature painting videos, and "abc's of technique" videos, but the videos that I have been enjoying the most are the ones that approach miniature painting not as a hobby but as an art form. I'm amazed by some of the people complaining about free content that maybe doesn't specifically apply to their personal taste, or painting niche, or that maybe wasn't mixed by a professional sound mixer. This was a great video. The content is more important than the production value. Giving feedback on issues that could be improved is one thing, but it feels like there are some people that just like to complain. I feel sad for those people that focus on the negative instead of being appreciative of the effort, but I guess that's just the internet and people taking for granted the amount of time it takes to make videos.

Really needed this honestly. As I feel like I'm getting better I'm beginning to lose interest because all my learnings so far have been very "Step 1, Step 2" regimented feel and it's starting to feel repetitive. But this really showed me that I need to start letting go of "recipes" and just be creative and no stress about the tiniest break in smoothness and just have fun. Thanks for this.
@Sabamonster

My absolute biggest tip for anyone painting is exactly this. Learn techniques, yes. Deliberately practice, yes, but just paint. Just paint what you want, how you want and don't get hung up on simple stuff. You'll sort through all those hang ups as you paint more and eventually it won't even be a concern. Just have fun. That's the most underrated, and single most important "tip" that never gets talked about.

My favorite painter for sure! Can't figure out how he makes such vibrant colors work together but they do! No color seems to be at the right place, but the result is so right somehow...
@emilviuff2514
@emilviuff2514 3 жыл бұрын
He's using direct line contrasts almost everywhere. Main one on this is blue and orange and those colors naturally go well together. Then he branches out a bit in the colorwheel and adds a bit of purple, green and red which compliments against the main colors. You can pair almost whatever colors you want, the important part is placement. Drawing and painting is putting down lines and color that gives the illusion of something the brain can identify. Main focuses should always be on volume, saturation and light values, colors chosen are secondary.
@ThomasGallinari

holy cow, I've never seen miniature painting like this before. 45 minutes in and I gotta say, this is weird for me. Not weird in a bad way at all. Just a MUCH different painting process and style than what I'm used to seeing. And it's brilliant every step of the way. The best way for me to process it all, is to change the way I perceive him using colors. He uses colors as both a tool to set his values and temperature gradients. Rather than the normal way of portraying a specific part of the model by painting it a certain color we are familiar with (i.e. brown for leather or red/pink for skin) I enjoyed this. Looking forward to seeing other busts being painted and seeing all the different painting styles.

Damn that really is God Tier colour. I'm having palpitations thinking about it, but now I really want to have a go at something a bit more impressionistic. I did quite well at using a similar technique on canvas when I was at school, so hopefully I can bring that to bear on a mini, but that *was* 20 years ago. Even if those canvasses were the only thing I ever got an A on, I have to admit, I think this is going to take a *LOT* of practice.

As an extremely obsessive-compulsive, object-oriented type, this sort of free-wheeling "let the paint go where it wants and lead you" technique (if that's the correct term) is extraordinarily hard to grasp as it's about the furthest from the process I've used myself over almost forty years of hobby. And yet I do love how this 'underpainting' process came around in particular for elements like the face, hair, and leather elements, as they were detailed and refined. This is definitely going to take some exploration to better grasp, and use on a pretty particular style of fig, but the result is unquestionably worth it and stands to lead in interesting directions. Also - very cool moustache!
