Loving your enemies isn't easy. Praying for people who despitefully use you is painful. But it's God's command. This will identify you as a Christian, because the natural man can't do these things. They can't understand real love. God loved the whole world enough to send Jesus to die for us, and while we were completely unlovable. God wants everyone to repent and be born again. He wants everyone to accept Jesus and become part of His family. Even the really bad people. But people would rather choose Hell than Jesus. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Jesus paid the price for all of us to be redeemed, not just a select few. And if you come to Jesus He will in no wise cast you out. He WILL take you in as family because He said He would and He can't lie. We should strive to be more like God. We should love the unlovable and pray for those who really really don't deserve it. At one time I was lost and unlovable. Someone prayed for me. You should give much because much was given to you. For all you know one of these corrupt politicians might be the next Saul of Tarsus, about to become Paul the Apostle - a mighty man of God.

The Bible makes it perfectly clear that while many who were tyrants were actually prayed for most NEVER repented!!!! Our hope should be that they do, but the reality is that consequences that happen as a result of people who continue to do wrong WILL come regardless of of how much we pray for them. The Scripture I mentioned in Jeremiah was NOT just for that time as God is still in the business of wiping people out who simply enjoy messing with His kids. Never once did Jesus preach that we should victimize ourselves by loving our enemies to death!!! The Scripture I mentioned still applies to today's standards. Recently there was an account that took place in India regarding someone who had an aggressive form of cancer that came upon him. While the elders prayed over him (And I'm sure they burned the midnight oil for this one) he was never healed. Now the reason for this is not always bad but in this case it was. While he came in under the guise of being a faithful Christian and being involved in ministry, this man actually belonged to a Satanic cult and his mission was to destroy that particular church. Preferably we would want to see people repent and saved but the reality is many will NEVER REPENT no matter how much we pray for them. The vast majority of tyrants from Biblical times to this day will NEVER surrender to Christ. That's just reality.

I am not trying to bash the Catholic church, but there were evil things done in the name of Religion. This is true throughout the world's history. I pray for revival here and around the world, and that the laws get influence by Christians. However, with a Theocracy, i have very mixed feelings on it because it can go in the wrong direction and what that ends up doing is turning people away from Christ. Ireland has gone from Theocracy to becoming a liberal country. A good number of the Irish don't call themselves Catholic or Christian and they have negative views about religion. Churches are closing over there. Such a shock from a country that decades earlier had filled pews at mass/church. I look at that as a cautionary tale.
