I know I will get a lot of flak for saying this, but, there is a HUGE difference between "righteous" pride and pride that is ego-led. Just as there is a difference between anger and righteous indignation. For example: a mother sees her son walk across the stage to receive his diploma and she is proud of him. I am proud to boldly proclaim the name of Jesus! That type of "pride" is far different from the type that causes people to be stiff-necked and arrogant. Context is key when reading the Bible. Words can have different meanings. Just like when Paul said, "I can do all things through Christ...". Obviously "all things" here doesn't include evil. Otherwise, he would be saying he can do evil through Christ. THAT would be blasphemy!

Even Jude only mentions "ungodliness" and "strange flesh", which the Angels were, not not homosexuality. Homosexuality and lesbianism was doubtless represented there as with all other sexual sins, such as divorce, adultery, fornication, unbridled lust, incest, bestiality, orgies, voyeurism etc., but the grammatical context just does not make it applying to only men. No doubt heterosexuals protecting their own sins' exposure prefer the "gay" version, but it does not stand up to scrutiny in the light of researched Hebrew grammar used in the story. The reason the word itself is use is that it is a counter to the homosexual, but people have to find fault in any and everything pastors do to counteract the sinful culture. These comments about the use of the word flag, while I do see the point, are just virtue-signaling for the most part. It's pretty easy to see that they are using the word pride in the sense of "not ashamed". At least for most people. Some have too much personal pride to see it though. ;-)

I see your point but you have completely missed the pastor's point. They are also trying to redefine the word "pride". The point is that Jesus should be the focus of our life. I see your point though. I also think "promise" would fit better but it is a nit-picky issue.

When it was time to work, the long tunic would get in the way. They brought the loose ends and tucked them into the girdle, which gave their legs freedom of movement. This was called girding up your loins. In the Gospel usage, girding up your loins means to prepare yourself, work hard, and give service in the kingdom. AMEN BROTHER!
