It's amazing how eloquent and softly-spoken they are given how heavy their music is!

I recall back in the early 90s getting into death metal and was buying tapes from any band on a specific label, such as Earache. I brought home Godflesh Slavestate. I thought what the hell is this? Never heard anything like it. It quickly grew on me. The production, layers, and power. Been a fan of Broadrick ever since. Oh, and I have always been a massive fan of Green's bass. So deep, grinding, menacing and key to the Godflesh sound.

When I listened this music at 1991 my whole music sense is completely changed. You cannot get through godflesh's music. It's still sharp and clever.

Cool to see Justin with a Stranglers t-shirt on. I was listening to some phone interview that Justin gave, can't remember much about it but he mentioned the Stranglers and how he's a huge fan. Awesome band, never would have stumbled on them if it wasn't for Justin.

C# was the Pure tuning Songs of Love and Hate era, after that they kept going lower eventually down to A. Ever heard a Broadrick guitar solo? He is the greatest ever.

One of the greatest metal/grind bands ever, all others that follow in the same vain are pretenders to the crown.

@boondoo Agreed. That is part of what draws me to Godflesh, the way the bass is SO heavy and so forward in the recordings. I loved that, as opposed to most bands that the bass in just for background. The bass was an integral part of the Godflesh sound.

Streetcleaner sounds fuckin badass live. Makes me wanna cover it, but I don't use live bass....oh well. I heard the Isis version, and that one sounds good but it doesn't beat the original.

Wait... Godflesh uses a drum machine??? ;)
@rubaidaallen27645 жыл бұрын
I was f'n surprised by that too
@kiethveseyofficial Жыл бұрын
Most industrial metal bands have used a drum machine at a certain point whether it was on a demo or an actual production. Fear Factory has used a drum machine in some of their earlier demos, and Agoraphobic Nosebleed used a drum machine in the late 90s. The Berzerker used distorted drum samples on their first album.

#godflesh we support you. We try to play you or show people your stuff as much as possible. I can also play like you. No bullshit. If you ever need a guy to play your riffs I can do it. It might sound wild with two of us. Idk. Ideas. ❤
