Now I have a realistic and attainable goal to get my first truck but a man with 37 years experience got the knowledge to keep me going. P.s. my brother went to the nfl and when I came to him with the idea of getting trucks he wasnt interested but a few years later went on his own and bought trucks. @@crystal11507African Americans are black people of African descent born in the Americas, as well. So, what exactly is your point? Racially there is no distinction between generational black Americans and black inhabitants of the African continent. We are all Sub-saharan Africans. There may be differences in nationalites or cultural traditions that vary from region to region. It doesn't matter if your grandparents, parents, or yourself was born on the African continent. When you come to the Americas and obtained American citizenship, you're considered a part of the same African-American racial classification. And you're Cameroonian. CAMEROON is a country in central Africa. There's a stark difference between nationality, race, ethnicity, regions, and the name of countries in particular regions.

@@deamorebeaute2412 Buddy the huge difference between african americans and black americans is that the former can point you to the map where their parents are from, what village their grandparents grew up in, etc. Now ask a black americans "which part of africa did you come from?", and you will get confused or angry stares. That is because their ancestors have been in this country from 400 years ago where they did not have access to education to liberate themselves sooner. It took a long period of time and still black folks are still not 100% liberated in america. Both african and black americans face racism and prejudice due to anti-blackness, however, the latter's experience is a lot more painful and traumatic due to the history and how their roots from africa was severed a long time ago.

Well you pretty much kind of see from the interview as to why that is. He is sort of like Paul Mooney in the fact that he is very unapologetic about his blackness. He doesn't trust Hollywood nor like Hollywood. Everybody knows that if you're going to try to be a big star, there's certain things that you're going to have to say in front of people to let the Hollywood elite know that you willing to play ball. Godfrey is just not doing that shit. But all of the celebrities make sure that they follow a script. They know that if they say anything about the truth, that they are no longer going to get work in Hollywood. And the Hollywood lifestyle is way too good for them to want to give that shit up. I understand both sides. However fuck Hollywood.

Plessy of Plessy v. Ferguson was the first. Ida B Wells sued a train company when she was forced to give up her seat to a white patron. Dr. Vernon Johns, MLK's precursor at Dexter Street Avenue Baptist Church, also refused to give up his seat. Johns was an older black gentleman whom even black folk considered a tad eccentric and definitely very outspoken. Another black teen whose name was Smith (sorry I forget her first name) refused before Colvin. Parks who was the secretary of a local chapter of the NAACP was considered a sober, middle-aged, religious black woman. She had also trained in nonviolent resistance (nonviolence was a tenet of CORE in the 1940s). It was the Women's Political Council of the Montgomery Improvement Association who made Parks an icon. MIA had appealed to the City Commissioners - because the first action was always negotiation - about segregated buses to no avail. Believing a boycott was inevitable (Colvin is actually mentioned in some of their documents), they seized the day by distributing flyers to black citizens urging the boycott. Chapters of the NAACP as well as Dr. King and the black media very quickly joined forces. The CRM was very strategic and not the sort of spontaneous sort of thing that people often pretend. In fact, it was the bus boycott that changed a protest into the movement.

@@andreabrown4541 now that right there is how you learn from the oppressors. So even back then the civil Rights movement knew that controlling the narrative was essential in order to get the masses, or the normal folk, behind their cause. On paper when you first look at it, you see the NAACP and the civil Rights movement is being a bit disingenuous and cherry picking. But when you think about the political strategy of it all, you see that certain people need to be put in certain positions in order for the entire movement to succeed. I don't agree in controlling narratives and I definitely don't like to see the truth being glazed over in favor of others, but I certainly do see that the way the enemy fights is not fair, so it doesn't really make any sense for us to be fair either. I suppose the main thing is to remember that we are fighting for everyone versus the other side that is just fighting for one ethnicity of white.

5:10 I loved to swim as a kid but the learning for energencies is definately needed. As soon as me and my younger siblings could swim without assistance or floaties my mom had us playing life guard. The adults in the family would play dead in the pool and we'd have to bring them to safety the correct way. And we did it, with our little bodies and all. Ended up being extremely useful several times at the beach smh

I agreed with much of what he stated, but he's completely wrong when he brought up latinos. No one powerful fights for us or defends us. We are the most undervalued people in this country. We are the only people on this continent whose ancestry were both the victims of near-genocide and slavery, massively sex slavery. We are the victims of mass rape. Yet we are the most ignored and the least represented in mainstream media and culture. And I'm not saying that Godfrey has to be our champion, but at least don't mischaracterize us and act like we get defended in US society. Not at all. Unless we're gay or transgender.

@@GoldenMean743 Yeah...it's also stupid to say people aren't speaking up for Blacks right now. This country may be more divided than ever...but there are more people speaking up for Blacks right now than ever before. Then again, the ignorant shit he said about Claudette Clovin alone is pathetic and shows he doesn't know shit about our history. Again, that had NOTHING to do with her being white. It had to do with her being 15 and Rosa being 42. With her being Pregnant...the movement not wanting to put a 15 year old Pregnant girl in harms way. Honestly, he just sound stupid as fuck. He didn't know there was racism in trucking? Yeah...I'm SHOCKED you'd hear people saying some racist shit while driving 18-wheelers.

Good words, especially the ending. We have to have a code. Where no matter what we hold the line for each other. Not as in taking up for wrong.. but seeing it for what it is, and yet not allowing others to insinuate that we throw each other away because we may not agree on a particular issue. We can be non-monolithic and still have a code of having each others back. In a very public way. Everyone has been allowed except.. How about we don’t ask.. and just do our shit..
