This is the most informative thinning video I’ve watched. I have watched a ton. Yours is the first one that shows how to thin a bang. That’s what I’ve been looking for. Another thing is you show how to use the shears. Meaning which side goes up. Thank you so much.

I'm a male who cuts my own unit, and I've never seen the "twisting hair" technique! But it makes soooo much sense! Thank you for sharing that! Also, I like the way you were very descriptive about protecting the base of the unit, and making sure they used the blank/dull side of the sheers, and then bending it over. Very nice! The explanation of "why" you don't cut the very top part of the hair was also well explained... Overall, I agree with a lot of comments here! this is probably the BEST informative video on how best to use thinning sheers! Thank you for sharing!

This video shows the best method to thin a wig. Thank you! I was using the thinning scissors the wrong way and it wasn't looking right. I am so grateful I stopped cutting and did more research, there's a lot of bad info/videos out there on this.

My hairdresser thinned my wig some, but not nearly enough (she thought it looked fine, I felt it was unnaturally thick- especially since my natural hair, because of PCO is embarrassingly thin....I don't want to go from, barely there to this super thick head of hair, even people who don't see me often would notice! Thanks so much for taking the time to educate us wig wearers on how to tweek our wigs for more personalized fit and style. I have a small head and face so most units are way too big and thick on me. You are so clever. Best wig-thinning vid ever. Thank you! I bought a new lace front, lace cap, heat resistant synth wig today. Love the rich chestnut color and the shag style but it has WAY too much hair and, on me, has what I think is a sort of wiggish-football-helmet look. Thinning it down to work with my short neck and round face will fix this and now, thanks to your totally brilliant demo, I know how to do it. New sub.

I don't have a wig person since I moved to Colorado. The lady in MD was fantastic and would thin wigs out for me. Since watching this tutorial, I honestly think I can do it myself now and take some of the bulkiness out of my wigs.

I had a $300 wig, a Jon Renu 'Alia' that is parted in the middle which doesn't look good on me anymore, it's been in its box for the two years that I've had it and your fine instructions, after watching several times, gave me the confidence to do it. Done and it came out perfectly!!! It has a mono top and a lace front, after the cut, the bangs fell nicely into place. Wish I could post a picture. Of course I'm very happy with the results! Can't thank you enough!

Hi Linda, Sorry, we do not have a specific video showing how to trim a side bang. Keep in mind that you can keep the bangs longer which will allow you to push the bangs to the side. We suggest having your wig trimmed by a hair dresser if you are looking for a very specific look. :)

A well done video, thanks. I DO have one sort of technical question. Why is it important to have the flat part of scissors on top AND why do you pull the hair up & over the scissors? I'm almost ready to try this but it's a little scary too.

Hi Trish, Having the flat part of the scissor on top will remove the lower portion of the hair you are cutting which is what you want. The reason you pull a section up and then grab a section just underneath is so you don't end up with any hairs sticking straight up or shorter hairs visible from thinning. This will allow you to see the wig as lighter and thinner but no layering.

What brand of shears are you using? There are so many to choose from it's getting confusing. Thank you!

Hi Anita, honestly, we just get our scissors from Sally's Beauty. Basic costs; nothing too expensive...I do keep scissors for only my human hair and different ones for cutting synthetic hair since the synthetic fiber is harder on the blades; yet I've never had to replace them! @@GodivasSecretWigs Thanks for getting back to me so soon!! I ended up getting some from Amazon. A pair of scissors and a matching pair of thinning shears. The brand name is Equinox and they look like some good ones! Under $40 for both of them. Fingers crossed they work out for me. So new to wigs....learning new things every day. Thanks to both of you for your great videos!! xo
