Thankyou for your clear and logical explanation. I have moved to this flash from an older Yongnuo. An aspect which confused me (and made me think it wasn't working) is that when the optical trigger is set there is no red flashing reminder from that red lamp plastic front panel. At least one other photo blogger I have seen said they couldn't get it to work and I suspect that they were also waiting to a see red blink at the front. I can confirm that it works perfectly on the Godox. Back in the day Nikon had a clever camera based flash control system (CLS I think) all optically controlled by the small built in flash with groups and channels, say Nikon D700. I still get the Yonguo to play along, where Godox is just a preset flash strength. Godox has more power and radio isn't defeated by bright sunshine outside.

Getting my T685 to talk with my Godox trigger is like precision landing on Mars. Technically possible but with enormous learning challenges and with great risk of failure. I have achieved it. Once.

Sorry to hear you're having an issue. Put the flash in RX mode, set the channel and group. Then on the controller set the channel and group. Should take less than 1 minute and the settings will be saved when you turn it off as well. Give us a call if you need some help.

Bro, your video and teaching are very enlightening! One function that I haven't been able to perform yet is the Godox TT685ii as a "SLAVE" of a speedlight from another brand (Younguo, for example) in the "master" function. What is the best way to do this pairing?

Haven’t finished watching but yay!! Thank you! Finally a clear demo easy to understand. I can’t get the flash to fire tho-not the test button and not when releasing shutter…any idea why?
@Strobepro
@Strobepro 2 ай бұрын
Hi @kritinaknief8565, Glad you're finding our video helpful! Unfortunately, when a flash does not fire via the test button, that suggests some kind of hardware issue. If you purchased the flash recently, you might want to bring this to the retailer's attention. If you purchased it from us, definitely get in touch. We offer a 2-year in-house warranty with every flash we sell.

@@Strobepro thank you, but I finally found out what’s wrong-not easy to find out since, 1) it makes no sense, and 2) it’s not addressed in manuals or troubleshooting forums. If the camera silent mode is on, the flash won’t fire! Totally not intuitive design!
@Strobepro
@Strobepro 2 ай бұрын
@@kritinaknief8565 Oh, I might have misunderstood you! I thought it was not firing at all, even when you pressed the test button on the flash. The silent mode on some cameras will disable hotshoe triggering from the camera side, but this should have no effect on the test button. If your camera's silent mode disables the flash, it might be because the silent mode enables your electronic shutter. On most cameras, you can only use your flashes in mechanical shutter mode, so that's another thing to watch out for. I agree-it's not exactly intuitive. It would be nice if the camera gave a little warning whenever the flash was disabled.

Thanks for this walkthrough. Why is there a distance scale provided in the led window? I don't think it was ever activated and I don't think you ever mentioned how it is used. My Nikon SB-24 has a distance scale and shows you optimal distance from your subject when triggering the flash. Does the Godox tt685ii use the distance scale in the same way?
@Strobepro
@Strobepro Жыл бұрын
Yes, the distance scale is similar to what is found in other flashes. In TTL mode, you will see a range of distances indicating the minimum and maximum distances where a good exposure can be obtained at your flash zoom and camera settings. If you are closer than the distance indicated, the flash will not drop low enough to avoid overexposure. If you are further, then the flash does not have sufficient power for an ideal exposure at that range.

Is there a reason why my flash doesn't specifically say "ETTL" but "TTL" when connected to the camera via hot shoe? Is there a diferrence in the way it's operating, or should I select a specific feature? It does fire and based on the settings, but it just doesn't put thr E in front otlf TTL. Thank you
@Strobepro
@Strobepro 3 ай бұрын
Great question! "E-TTL" is just Canon's proprietary TTL technology. We show the Canon version of the flash in this video. Nikon will display "iTTL." All other models will just display "TTL."

Does anyone know if this flash has "Custom Buttons" or "Shortcut Buttons" For example if I want to set to different flashes strengths I can just push a button
@Strobepro
@Strobepro 21 күн бұрын
There is no way to save and recall settings at the push of a button on the flash, but Godox's Photo app does allow you to save specific group presets. So if you are working with the speedlite off camera, that might be something to look into. The app is supported via Bluetooth on the XproII and X2T radio controllers. If you are primarily using your flash on camera, it might be helpful to know that you can press up and down on the dial to cycle through power settings in full stops and rotate the dial to make your finer 10th stop adjustments.

Hi, new to photography. Is there any point to buying a godox trigger/controller + the TT86ii opposed to two TT685ii since the TT685ii has built in trigger?
@Strobepro
@Strobepro 11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what model you are referring to with the TT86II. Most people prefer the controller rather than doing it from the flash menu. The only time I would recommend this is if you plan to have the flash on the camera hot shoe all the time.

Thanks for the video. Can that flash use to Fujifilm XT200 ?
@Strobepro
@Strobepro Жыл бұрын
You may not have access to all features of the flash. Godox includes a compatibility chart in their manual, but does not list the XT200. Based on our past experience with unlisted cameras, you should have no trouble using the flash in TTL or manual modes, but HSS and rear curtain sync may not be supported.

@wasingsing1567
@wasingsing1567 Жыл бұрын
Hi, for me I think if red light is when the flash is in slave mode? or wireless mode, based on my observation.. If you can see when in the red light, there's "CH" channel indicated so I think it is for wireless or when you're using a flash trigger

On the flash itself can you change the power increments by thirds or can you only do that with an external transmitter?
@Strobepro
@Strobepro Жыл бұрын
Currently, it appears the flash itself is only adjustable in 1/10 increments. 1/3 stops would probably be more useful for most users. We will suggest adding the ability to adjust in 1/3 stops in a firmware update.

Hi, I have a Godox tt685ii as well. But in V1.0. I can see that you are in V1.2. May I know where did you find the firmware? Cause, I cannot see it in Godox Website and also what Launcher did you use to update it is G1, G2 or G3? Please help. Thanks a lot!
@Strobepro
@Strobepro Жыл бұрын
Hi Iggi, The exact latest version available to your model will depend on the brand compatibility of your flash. For example, the V1C (Canon) is currently on version 1.9 and the V1N (Nikon) is on version 1.6. If your flash is on 1.0, it's safe to say it's a bit out of date. We organized Godox's firmware packages into a list that's easy to navigate, and is organized by update utility (G1, G2, or G3): strobepro.com/pages/firmware-upgrade In your case, you would need the G3 update utility.

@Strobepro
@Strobepro Жыл бұрын
Hi Attila, There are small differences in the TT685 depending on the camera brand it was intended for. On a Sony body, you would control the 1st/2nd curtain sync options through the camera only.

@Strobepro

Godox has a product called the VB960 that is compatible. If you want to run something else, it is a Canon type cable that you will need regardless of your TT685ii's brand compatibility.

@Strobepro
@Strobepro 2 ай бұрын
AA batteries of different types offer variable capacity and performance, so AA battery indicators aren't particularly accurate. There is no indicator on these flashes, but the performance of the flash will tell you when it is time to switch batteries. You will notice your recycle times getting longer as the batteries drain.

Hi @sbudamor, Yes, it is compatible! It's definitely wise to ask since the 250D lacks a centre pin on its hotshoe, but all current Godox flashes on their latest firmware will work with the 250D.

@Strobepro
@Strobepro Жыл бұрын
There are small differences between individual models depending on camera type. With a Nikon camera, you just need to select your fastest Auto-FP setting in the camera's flash menu (E: Flash and Bracketing). With that configured, your flash will automatically switch to HSS when you exceed your flash sync speed.
