Incredible how the director went from giving Godzilla a cameo to making an entire movie about the King of the Monsters. Talk about never giving up on your dreams.

I remember seeing this scene waaaaay back in 2009 and thinking "this guy needs to do a Godzilla movie." And now I'm seeing Godzilla Minus One in theaters next week.

Man, Toho really couldn’t let the Big G go for his 10 year hiatus. They just needed to give the audience a taste one last time before sitting back and letting the US do what they wanted. And hell, they made this literal two minutes of film a fantastic go at it.

I love this scene, Godzilla looks amazing here, and really does seem to hear the guy but not give an f about it.

The street-level, rubble-strewn view of destruction; with a tram flying through the air and a swinging tail decimating buildings, all in a Shōwa-era period setting evoking the time where the initial Godzilla films came from. Having not watched this sequence in a long time, I'm shocked how much of Takashi Yamazaki's vision of Godzilla Minus One was already clear in this short sequence.

If like me, you thought this was a well directed opening that captured Godzilla well, the director of this movie, Takashi Yamazaki, is going to direct his own Japanese Godzilla film that is scheduled to release on November 3, 2023 (Godzilla's 69th birthday) Edit on 12/3/23: I just saw the movie today, and it’s really good. Go see it!

I remember being amazed at how well done this destruction sequence was, and now I've learned that the same director is in charge of Minus One? Incredible. I'm even more excited for that movie now. Especially if scenes of destruction like this are what we can expect from it.

I did not expect this scene to be that good, the opening part up until you have the whole suzuki auto shop scene would work as an intro for an actual Godzilla movie.

The sense of scale and descrution in this is still unmatched by both US and Japan Godzilla movies. Shots like 0:41 driving through the chaos are so good. Also kinda cool that they use the 98 Godzilla roar in parts. Say what you want about the design but the roar is a good variation of the original.

This gives me high expectations for Godzilla Minus One, which is made by the same guy that made this masterpiece of a scene.

Congrats Takashi Yamazaki, you've earned it!

According to him, making this CGI Godzilla just for a few seconds took six months and he realized that it wasn’t the right time to make his movie. I like the news about Takashi Yamazaki directing the new *Godzilla* film. Years ago, I watched *"Always: Sunset on Third Street"* and its sequel back to back at a small Japanese-film-festival in California. I enjoyed both films. I think Yamazaki is good with characters & their emotions. This dream sequence with *Godzilla* is another reason why I think Yamazaki is a good choice for *Godzilla's* next TOHO film in 2023. I think if the budget & special effects are on the same level (or better) as *Shin Godzilla* then we'll be in for another special kind of *Godzilla* film. Perhaps this *"Reiwa era"* of *Godzilla* films might be the era of special and different kinds of *Godzilla* films.

Can't wait to see his dream for a godzilla movie realized in theaters December 1st.

With this director doing the new Gojira film ... just looking at this , he would be foolish not to remake the very first film. The detail in this is quite breathtaking.and the production design puts all Gojira films from the past 30 years to shame.
