This was actually the first Godzilla film I watched as a kid. While it may not have been the best film, at least it got me interested in the franchise overall.

About the kid "not knowing" about Ebirah and the island, I'll explain it: Basically, this film takes place in "the real world", where all the Godzilla movies are simply that, movies. Hence why he recognizes the island and the monsters on it.

I like to think Godzilla paid Gabara off to fight his son in an attempt to toughen him up (or kill him, whichever comes first), and so Gabara was holding back the whole time. And then he attacked Godzilla because Godzilla didn't give him the rest of the money he was promised for succeeding at toughening him up.

I held this movie with a lot higher regard when I was a kid. This is a personal story but I grew up pretty similarly to the kid in this movie. Yeah it's an awful movie but for me it was relatable and it stuck with me. And on the crack about computers, this movie was made in 1970. That was a "mini-computer" for that era considering serious computer machines took up whole rooms in those days. In Fact the computer in this movie looks very similar to the early home computers like the PET and Tandy models.

Still would rather watch this entire movie than one episode of Teen Titans GO!

This was one of the first Godzilla movies I ever saw along with Godzilla vs the Sea Monster and Terror of Mechagodzilla. Now it is true that those are superior to this in every way, but I do like some aspects about it. I think the best scene in the movie is actually the beginning where the kids are walking home from school because it seems like the most realistic part. But everything else falls down hill from there. In my opinion, this is more like a fan-made Godzilla movie trying to be a real one and failing at it.

I’m glad that this movie was available on Netflix when I was a little kid. Or else I would have never become a Godzilla fan like I am today. While this movie is a terrible Godzilla movie, it is a good introduction for kids to the Godzilla series.

This was the first Godzilla movie I watched. I was around 3 at the time. Also around that time, I remember watching the beginning of Terror of Mechagodzilla. I have no clue how I became a Godzilla fan.

King Kong is weaker than gabara because realistically Kong is 25 feet tall and in order to make the fight fair, Toho had to buff him up to Godzilla’s size, so basically Kong had to cheat to fight Godzilla
