An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
Gareth Edwards directs "Godzilla," which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson ("Kick-Ass"), Oscar® nominee Ken Watanabe ("The Last Samurai," "Inception"), Elizabeth Olsen ("Martha Marcy May Marlene"), Oscar® winner Juliette Binoche ("The English Patient," "Cosmopolis"), and Sally Hawkins ("Blue Jasmine"), with Oscar® nominee David Strathairn ("Good Night, and Good Luck.," "The Bourne Legacy") and Bryan Cranston ("Argo," TV's "Breaking Bad").

The polygon-count on Godzilla is absolutely sick, he might very well be the most detailed CGI-character to date. Too bad they had to hide him so much in the dark in this movie.

This movie hit the nail right on the head making GOJI bigger and badass. Love this neo-design GODZILLA. Hopefully in the sequel, U guys at legendary will focus more on the MONSTER/KAIJU story and less of the HUMAN element. GOJI plays second fiddle to no-one. GODZILLA stars GODZILLA not Marky Mark or who-ever the hell wants part in the movie.

I wish Gareth Edwards returned for at least King of the Monsters. He would’ve absolutely knocked it right out of the park. All he needed was that little criticism 2014 received, which he definitely learned from (show the monsters a bit more), and it would’ve been flawless. But instead we got… whatever Dougherty festered up. While I appreciate some things about 2019’s final product, there was just SO MANY missed opportunities and other things that were just plain BAD about the movie. Adam Wingard sorta directed us back onto the right track but it’ll probably never be the same again. Still love the Monsterverse for what it is now tho and I’m hella excited for The New Empire!

I think the ONLY, MINUET, NIT-PICKY complaint would be there might have been just a tad tiny bit much of smoke in the finale. Seeing the finale here without much vaseline (example) and smoke all over the screen made it cooler because I could see so much more of the detail on the actual monsters' bodies. It was epic overall as a movie, nonetheless. Just wish we could see a version of the finale without as much darkness or smoke.
@TheSonicChaotix
@TheSonicChaotix 9 жыл бұрын
Miellez I thought about more, oddly enough a few days ago, and yeah, you're right. When 9/11 happened, ONLY TWO BUILDINGS, there was a shit ton of smoke from the buildings that traveled miles away, into another country. So, imagine 9/11, but EVERY building in the city. Now I see why there was so much smoke. Hell, in an interview, Director Gareth Edwards said the scene is supposed to take place right in the middle of a sunny day. There is so much fucking smoke that it's blocking out the sun and making clouds of ash.
@musiclova21
@musiclova21 9 жыл бұрын
I actually liked this technique because I felt it made the scenes that much more chilling; especially during the halo jump. You have these two MASSIVE creatures, basically gods, having a legendary battle on an epic scale and glimpses are all you need to get that tingle in your spine. Even though the creatures were certainly well detailed, I feel a bit more realism was added when they were slightly masked by smoke or fog, especially during more dynamic scenes.

GamerOfChaos I understand where you're coming from but I actually like the smoke and darkness. It gives the final showdown a gritty realism (despite the fact we're talking about 300 foot monsters here) that contrasts with the glittery sheen of Pacific Rim. It actually makes these monsters seem plausible and terrifying, as opposed to goofy or campy.
