I love the detail that Kong is clearly putting all of his effort into stopping the atomic breath. He knows he can’t take that kind of hit. Edit: Its been 2 years and yall are still arguing about this in the replies despite the fact that I'm not arguing about who won. Stop acting like children. It's not that deep.

This showdown did not disappoint. Totally worth the wait. This is bound to become one of the greatest battles in history.

One of the most amazing things is, that even if Godzilla is way stronger, they found a way to not dissapoint Godzilla or Kong fans. In my eyes it was an awesome movie.

I love how this director made both Godzilla and Kong intelligent. They're not mindless animals/monsters. Kong remembered his first encounter with Godzilla and knew his only chance at defeating him was to turn his own power against him using the axe. Godzilla realized his mistake and adapted in the second part of this fight. He realized his own power could be his downfall, but once he fought Kong hand to hand (or claw), it was over.

Everyone: "Godzilla is our hero." People who got stepped by Godzilla: ....

The sound design at 0:48 is so crazy. It's other worldly and makes you realize just how insignificant the humans are when Kong just rips his axe out of a skyscraper.

I really like how you can see the fighting experience difference between Kong and Godzilla. Kong has a lot of natural talent and advantage because he's quick and can actually use all four limbs, but Godzilla has just fought so much more.

Bro this entire scene with Godzilla's dorsal plates lighting up or flickering, and the atomic breath. The blue just looks so beautiful and mesmerizing. I keep replaying this fight scene because I can't get enough of how cool the blue looks!

You can actually see how much more comfortable and confident Kong is during this fight over the one they had at sea. He knows he’s at a major disadvantage since Godzilla is bigger, stronger, more durable, and has atomic breath. Not only was he naturally at a disadvantage, he had to fight hand-to-hand in close proximity in Godzilla’s home turf which put him at an even bigger disadvantage and you could see the concern in his eyes. Here you can see him more comfortable not only because he has the axe but because he knows he can use the surroundings to his advantage. It’s also kinda impressive that this was the first time Kong had actually seen and been in a city before and he used it well to his advantage

Godzilla is literally that guy who spams the ranged attacks in fighting games

Going into the film i was worried that they would have to just make excuses for why Kong was even on the same stage as Godzilla. I liked how they accepted that Kong really would be at a disadvantage against Godzilla, and made him an adversary that tries to fight smarter rather then harder.

I'm sorry but Godzilla smiling/laughing after blasting Kong out of the air is hands down one of the greatest moments in cinematic history!!! 👍👍👍

Kong grew up. He used to climb the skyscrapers, now he is as big.

Godzilla's a badass crotchety old veteran with literally millions of years worth of battles under his belt. Kong's a kid who grew up in a rough neighborhood with a lot of potential and even more to prove (think Yusuke Urameshi from YuYu Hakusho). These fights, in my view, go exactly as they should.

I love how Godzilla is all glowy when he shoots his atomic breath.

Love how Legendary Godzilla’s atomic breathe is now upgraded to be focused and laser-like, slicing buildings off! Looks more closer to Shin Godzilla’s atomic breathe.

I love this fight and this movie, but I honestly wish this fight (and the final battle with MechaGodzilla too) had more "camera on the ground" moments instead of so many floating camera shots, to remind us really how huge and titanic these guys are.

The lack of music in this scene really sells it as the best fight for me. You get to hear the heaviest hits and the small genius details in the sound design

2:03 - 2:34, I bet everyone at the theaters could already tell that Legendary and Warner Bros wanted to make this scene to be a ride, and I would be the first one to get on it 🤣🤩

I've said this once and I'll probably say it time and time again. The movie wouldn't have been as effective as it is without Tom Holkenborg's score. That's the sauce that brought it together for me.

When they flew out of the tunnel straight up past Kong, through the building while dodging through a building by Godzilla, and then flying by him while finishing it off with a spiraling move. Just amazing looking!

Man, does it bring joy to my heart to see two of my favorite kaiju just battling each other, with the gorgeous cgi and vfx. It really shows you how much time has passed since the original movie, when they were in costumes and props. In other words, am a kaiju fan, and always will be.

You can tell that Godzilla was playing around with Kong based on how he just easily pushes him about and tries to blast him with his atomic breathe (just look at the grin he gives when he hits him in the shoulder) and didn't really take him as a serious threat until Kong struck with that axe on his head. It was after the axe strike that Godzilla took him more seriously and absolutely destroyed him in round 3 in like 90 seconds, adopting a position that gave him better mobility to counteract Kong's agility
