The fact that they did a modern version of the tree getting shoved down Zilla's throat makes this movie a piece of history edit: I apologize for using Zilla instead of Godzilla. I had forgotten that Zilla was that discusting abomination that was the US Walmart rip off.

There were alot of callbacks to those old fights. I also love that kong tries to rip open godzilla's jaw (like every other reptile he's fought) but his breath was too hot lol.

I read Toho didn’t want Godzilla to Emote but Wingard convinced them to keep the smile in as a nod to Godzilla’s dance running Kong off in the original, they approved it

They were fighting because they were the last remaining Alpha titans, and Kong never bowed before the recognized Alpha of Godzilla. Then Godzilla chose to spare Kong, he didn't see Kong as a threat that needed to be killed...he had shown who was the King of Monsters. Then in the end, they recognized each other as allies and not enemies, willing to coexist on the side of humanity, but in their own worlds.

Either both continue and one of them die or just called it quit and just leave it as it is. Godzilla prove to Kong he was the dominant one during their fight but Kong proved when push comes to shove he can tackle a challenge head on without backing down. Add in the fact Kong had backed up Godzilla against Mecha G goes to show Kong had the strive to face the bigger threat. When all was said and done, both Titans were already at their limit. They now know where each other stand and both were more than happy to withdraw to not further push their already driven instinct to face one another. Once again in my mind, Godzilla had prove himself as the Dominant King while Kong had proven himself a valuable but formidable Ally when push comes go shove and that's why I find this movie great.

Mecha Godzilla Was gedorahs consciousness, In old Japanese lore, there is a such thing called a “wish dragon” whose bones still grant wishes Long after the dragon dies. That’s why they was using gedorahs head as a hub/cockpit. But I don’t think they knew he would gain control of the host

"Kong bow to no one" That line is real af. Kong is a warrior. Even when he knew he is about to die he never bow to Godzilla. Not like other titan in Godzilla 2 : King of the Monsters.

@@HABO2210 i don't think so. In Kong's "true" home or at least his species, we know the fact that the powers sources of kong's axe is Godzilla or his skin. It means that thess 2 species has been a rival like from the beggining. The fact that in the end of the movie Godzilla didn't attack kong because he wanna see kong's reaction (attack or not). An then finally kong put down the axe. These 2 titan make a peace sign. At least that's what i thought

Godzilla was getting thrown around at the end because he didn’t have any energy left. He blasted to the center of the earth, got knocked tf out by Kong, and then had to defeat him before going up against mechagodzilla, so yea he was prolly pretty tired after all that 💀

I agree the visuals were wild, they conveyed a sense of scale of two titans; perfect for the IMAX experience.

Well because mechagodzilla is basically another godzilla but modified with weapons so godzilla is basically fighting himself but with weapons, so of course he's gonna need help.

Just finished watching. The fights were lit and I enjoyed every moment Godzilla or Kong were on screen. The acting and dialogue was on Transformers 4 levels of bad, but no one watches these movies for the humans 🤣

I’m glad it ended the way it did and didn’t leave negative feelings Edit: I don’t care if you have negative feelings, a tie is a tie. Yes godzilla won, but it can still be considered as a tie since Kong saved him towards the end, a respect point for him, both have 2 points, a tie. *They both won, no one died, it ended with them being friends.* If you don’t agree that it isn’t a tie, then don’t respond with the bs and move on, I don’t need to know what you think. *So stop frighting under my comment, make your own if you’re gonna argue, because my comment was not meant for that.*

Yeah thats a good writing, Godzilla basically won so they're tied 1-1, since the beginning there's no way Godzilla is gonna lose because Kong won the 1st fight in 60s, but still in this movie they didn't make Kong bow to Godzilla, he'd rather die.

@Dez idk about the 1st fight in this movie, it's kinda unfair to kong because the environment, kong needs ground to fight and air to breathe, Godzilla took the basic needs from him, he almost died by simply dragging him down.

Round 2 and 3 were one round, Kong and Godzilla were both thrown back, then when Godzilla got back to his feet mere moments later he defeated (killed) Kong. I say defeated because he was sparing Kong's life, but Kong went and died from the damage anyway lol

No hate but if this wasn't in a city he would lose mych faster. They put tye fight in a city so kong could use buildings and use tactics. Kong was also getting his ass whooped by mechagodzilla and the only reason kong destroyed MG was because he had a godzilla dorsal plate as an axe and godzilla powered up the axe. If kong didn't have an axe at all ans godzilla never ysed his atomic breath kong would still 100% lose. Im a Godzilla fan but also a Kong fan so im not being biased just telling how it is.

That Kong opening sequence totally reminded me of the Shrek opening scene! They did not disappoint at all with the Godzilla vs. Kong scenes! Sorry to the Godzilla fans, but I'm Team Kong even though Godzilla was the clear winner in their fight. But let's not forget that Kong destroyed Mechagodzilla's ass! The Hong Kong fight was entertaining and visually beautiful to watch. The neon drenched city landscape was a perfect place for the two to fight. The only complaint I have with the movie is that the human characters are the most annoying thing about it. Every time a human character showed up on screen, I literally rolled my eyes because of how annoying they are. Other than that I completely enjoyed myself!

I didn’t mind the connection between Kong and the girl but every other human I literally gave no fucks about. Even though they are bad definitely not as bad as in king of the monsters. In my opinion I think they did the humans the best in Kong: Skull Island. That mostly had to probably do with the cast they got and of course the writing for the characters.
