Between 1948 and 1963 over 100 German cinema films were shot in the university town of Göttingen in Lower Saxony. Many of the films are now considered cult films of the 1950s. In the film studios of "FILMAUFBAU GÖTTINGEN" and later the "Filmatelier Göttingen", cinema films were made at locations in and around the city of Göttingen, some of which are still known in Germany today. Almost all the actors who were in demand in Germany at the time, such as Heinz Erhardt, Peter Frankenfeld, Hans Albers and others, as well as directors, worked in Göttingen.
