I suspected this. Mainly because Goku was thinking about it, while he was inside of Majin Buu's head along with Vegeta. He didn't say it. But he did say words, that hinted at it.

In the manga chapter where Goku and Vegeta fuse into Vegito the subtitles refer to him as "Gogeta". This was only in the original edition of that chapter, and was changed in later versions. I don't think that at the time that there was a realization that Gogeta would be the same character's name when Goku and Vegeta used fusion dance in the new DBZ movie at the time.

Back then when DBZ became the trend, I always thought Vegetto was "Vegeku" and Gogeta as told to me by my brother, or maybe I misheard him, was "Gota". Man those were the days.

I think the next arc should "canon-ize" Android 21 as pre-lude into the "Black Frieza" arc. All our characters are on earth. Those 2 RR henchmen got away, it would be interesting if they created her somehow. It would be a nice nod to the Buu Saga. We need at least 2 more arcs before Super ends and they animate it all. If both arcs are 24 chapters long (Android 21 & Black Frieza) then the magna will essentially end in 2029 and Dragon Ball Super (Moro) will return the same year.

I was sure that he planned to have Potara Fusion already, with the name Gogeta initially before the movie was planned and later changed to Vegito. I didn't know he actually planned to have Metamoran fusion of Goku and Vegeta with Gogeta's name as well, until the movie staffs asked for the permission of the fusion and have Toriyama added a new fusion.

I was never one for "change," as when things start changing, it gets confusing to keep up with what is what, and the history and things like that, but I began to get used to it in during my pre-teens. Now I am ok with changes, and I will be honest, these Dragon Ball changes. They actually make it work. For example, Goten and Trunks not having tails, and Gogeta not fighting Majin Buu, which led to the end fight with Super Saiyan 3 Goku vs Kid Buu and a collective effort with everyone with the Spirit Bomb and everything like that. So, I think that it would have been cool if they did do Gogeta vs Majin Buu, but in a way I am grateful that they didn't do it, because the whole Buu Saga, it was legendary, up there with the Namek and Cell Saga.

When I first watched Dragon Ball Z Fusion Reborn on the Nicktoons channel a few years ago, I saw Goku and Vegeta fuse into Gogeta for the first time. He's one of my favorite characters in the Dragon Ball franchise, next to Vegito.

It’s a good thing they did the earring fusion because if they did the fusion dance they will only have 30 minutes to trick. buu into absorbing them as opposed to to vegito who had unlimited time, because if they didn’t finish them off and quickly buu can outlast the fusion time because he knows the fusion dance weakness, which is time management

I think kakaroto would have actually won the fight yes I do feel that he would tour with him for a little while but knowing Vegeta's personality he would have gotten the job done it actually won the fight. I do think that Vegeta would actually learn some magic before getting into the fight from bibidi Elemental Magic which means ice and fire wind etcetera. Even though we didn't see Bibbidi display any Elemental Magic doesn't mean he doesn't know it.

I think a fight between Gogeta and Majin Buu would have been a much closer fight. The fusion dance fusions are powerful, but they are not as powerful as the potara fusions.

I think in the context of the story the potara fusion works best for this story. If he went with Gogeta Goku would have had to teach Vageta the dance at some point. And I don't know when he would have done it. Probably like the other 2 times we see Gogeta which means we would also get the fat/skinny gage which I don't think works, unless Gohan doesn't get absorbed so that Gohan fights Buu while they are learning it. But if Gohan doesn't get absorbed do Vegeta and Goku need to learn the technique and if Gohan does get absorbed does Goku have the time to teach it to Vageta. Unless Goku makes the request to let Vageta get his body back and they practice befor going back to earth that might work.

I think Gogeta could had use the Stardust Breaker to disintegrate Super Buu and everyone would had been alive and fine. Remember Gogeta used that move on Janemba and the guy was restored back to himself so if that's the case all of those absorbed by Super Buu would had been brought back. That would definitely be the difference however, they would had WROTE it the same because they want the fight to continue to Kid Buu and Gogeta may not have the Stardust Breaker attack

I think Gogeta would toy around but not nearly as much as Vegito. After all, going in Goku would already know he has 30 mins to do whatever needs to be done. While Vegito, whether you take in Super's retcon/explaination about Potara. Goku and Vegeta would be going in thinking they had more time than they actually thought so it leaves more room for taunting than Gogeta.

If gogeta were to fight buu, I think it’s safe to say that things would not be the same because of 2 things 1st, the reason vegito toyed around with buu so much to get absorbed was presumably because he believed the fusion was permanent, and he would not have to worry about whether it would’ve taken hours or days before his plan worked 2nd, if buu saw they fused via the fusion dance, I’m sure he wouldn’t have been so easily persuaded to absorb him knowing full well that the fusion has a 30 min time limit So I believe he more than likely would’ve finished him off, then use the dragon balls to bring everyone back

I just thought about something...since Goku learned the Metamoran fusion on Otherworld and he seems to be pretty proficient at knowing the dance when he taught Goten and Trunks. Im wondering if he fused with anyone when he was learning it. My guess is either the Metamoran who taught him or even Pikkon.

It would be interesting to see Gogeta in the buu saga and yeah, I agree with you. It wouldn’t make much of a difference like vegito gogeta would way around with buuhan on purpose that way gogeta what’s a piccolo gohan goten and trunks. And it is interesting that vegito/ vegetto is based on kakarot/ kakartto which would make sense, and of course gogeta being goku and vegeta

I'm glad we ended having two diferent fusions because from what we learned through the story, related to both fusions, you could tell they fusions used for diferent scenarios in terms of raw power over martial arts. Still good to know about this related to the fusions. It would have made experience of watching the story diferently with a diferent fusion but not so diferent because Gogeta eventually fighting Majin Buu would be just has Vegetto since Gogeta couldn't simply just make Majin Buu vanish, like he did with Janemba because of plot reasons.

@@Dion298metamorphine Fusion is stronger than potara Fusion because of the recent scaling in the tournament of power. As you know a fusion between Goku and ultimate Gohan is stated to result in power that probably may not have reached the same levels of power that Goku and Vegeta reached when they fused into Vegito. This means a basic potara Fusion is over 400 times weaker than a fusion between rivals. Looking at his fight between kale and caulifla, they were both in base form weaker than base Goku and if you think differently while they do not surpass base Goku in their own base forms. When they do their Fusion they undergo a regular Fusion which is only able to beat up Super Saiyan God goku. Gogeta is not only stated to be an equal trump card with Vegito but his base form was stronger than Super Saiyan blue. In order to be equal Trump cards then that means neither one can succeed over the other in the same circumstances. So if there is a foe that Gogeta cannot defeat but Vegito can then the information is contradicted.

I agree with you. Gogeta vs. Buu would have gone the same way as Vegetto vs. Buu did. I will add that Gogeta defusing inside Buu would have made more sense than when Vegetto defused since it was established that the Fusion Dance has a time limit whereas the Potara Fusion is supposed to be permanent (I’m speaking from the lens of the original manga run so I’m leaving out the retcon of the Potara in Super).

i think gogeta might have better attacks on buu. his soul punisher attack could work against buu on the inside out. plus it could could either do critical damage on him because he's evil, or even purify him.

I would like a fusion to get a wish from shenron. I mean if Vegito or Gogeta had a wish they’d probably wish for a combat partner, which could lead to a new villain. Gotenks would be interesting too.

I honestly would've preferred if Goku and Vegeta fused to fight Kid Buu. Because they introduce Fusion into this arc and it's rendered completely pointless due to them not using it to win the day. Same goes for SSJ3, Videl, and Mystic Gohan.
