This exercise, explained by Carcassi himself, is meant to learn to stop the bass notes during the scales. This is its main goal. We see the bass line, there is a pause after each bass stroke....Thank you so much Gohar, your explanation is precious!

Interesting. Are these notes in his method or are they in the original op.60 edition.
@giuseppearmetta1426
@giuseppearmetta1426 Жыл бұрын
@@Ayo.Ajisafe I am not sure of it, as for the many editions tha come after the original partiture. However, tha harmonical result that requires the bass note to be muted, gives indeed a full harmonic meaning, as well as the sound pleasure that otherwise wouldn't be obtained by leaving the note freely opened during the evolving scales

Great lesson. I usually try to play the scale portion of this pretty fast, but I will get to the chords and it is complete murder. It turns out that this is a good all-around lesson for playing scales fluidly, as well as smooth chord transitions. These lessons are very helpful by the way, because all of my life I’ve played primarily with a pick, so learning the different approaches to playing classical guitar has definitely been a challenge, but has revived my interest in learning something new with the guitar. Thanks again!

You play wonderfully! I don’t nitpick artistic interpretations but with this being an etude, I feel the didactic intention is missed. The score indicates "staccato," from the beginning. Your approach seems more like a study in legato which is good too.

The Pujol no 13 is a good one for that too, but slurs and coordination exercises will probably work on the specific independence better.

A present - for all your gracious sharing- Would it be worthwhile for you to record the guitar duet at the end of the Carulli Method? It's not difficult, and it's simple, but sounds great. I long-remember doing this Carcassi Etude 1 in my teen years... It brings back certain strong feelings of youth. ( Our capacity to feel diminishes over time as we face the work world :( )

Hi Gohar, thank you so much for this lesson! Quick question: the only recording I have of this piece is by David Tannenbaum, and he plays it about 2x as quickly as you do. Is there a tempo listed on the piece itself? The speed at which David plays it is intimidating to me, and is a reason why I haven't tackled the piece yet!
@ericstandefer9138
@ericstandefer9138 4 жыл бұрын
The Shearer edition has the tempo at Allegro, which the Italian translation to that literally means "joyfully." Many showboat players play this so fast, but I think they lose musicality.

I am a 71-yr-old beginner with some violin practice in my old days. One thing that confuse me the most is the right-hand fingerings. Finding the note on the fretboard is not difficult for me, but finding the right right-hand finger is. I just download the Op. 60 by Carcassi, but it only marked the left-hand fingerings. Where can I get the score with the right-hand fingerings? Hope that I get coupe pointers from you. I am a big fan of you, and I especially love the way you played “Un SUEÑO en la Foresta” by Barrios. I personally love it more than the renditions of big shots like John Williams and David Russel.

Excellent! A NOT SO EASY piece! But for the life of me, I wish you guys would not take the camera off the left hand because just exactly in spots where I was wondering about the left hand fingering you guys put the camera on the right hand. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhh! You tube camera people are notorious for that!

We do it on purpose, so you don't see that particular fingering hahaha... It's impossible to predict what everyone wants to see, some people want to see the right hand, others - the left, or they want to see both, and some get bored from the unchanged angle... hopefully there are enough different videos on KZfaq, to make everyone happy.
