I’ve been there many times. I live very close to the river for five years and really enjoyed it. My biggest Chinook they’re in 73, 25 pounds. I like fishing from the bank though and has great luck on the upper Toutle. That was back before the volcano. There sure are some great waters in that area. Thanks

After 66 years of livin' I finally bought my first drift boat, albeit a very old and scarred up unit. I can't wait for spring to come. In my lifetime I have crossed over the Cowlitz many times but never fished it. So many rivers... so little time! Thanks for posting your video.

Sweet set up, what launch is that? We hit that river hard at blue cr. all summer and no big fish, we threw everything at them too. Started out with an inflatable raft, then a 14ft Jon boat 9.9hp, then a 16ft John boat with 25hp, and then finally we found a small 17ft 60hp Jet sled set up. I really want a drift boat as well. Most rivers we fish needs a drift boat.

Great to you & Brenda having a different kind of adventure. I tried that drift dishing a couple of years back with a friend and guide but ended just like you kids, having a very nice boat ride down the Yellowstone River in beautiful Montana! So, if that’s what you like and are willing to share with us, then it’s all good!

Great boat , love rowing should be more of it , as you get fitter you can move the oars a bit further apart to improve stroke length. Enjoy that while we are in lock down for a few more weeks,

Hell yeah!!! I just got back from a two month RV trip starting in my town of Las Vegas headed down to San Diego and drove all the way up the PCH to the Canadian border. Then kicked east through Washington Idaho Wyoming Utah and back home to Vegas. So glad to see you guys are doing good... picked up a new Hobie kayak down in San Diego and fish the whole PCH area lakes rivers and of course Bays and oceans. Yellowtail white Seabass lingcod perch trout cutthroat rainbow Browns.. An amazing time!! So glad to see you’re doing well. Stay safe🇺🇸😎

I was fishing this exact hole on Thursday this past week. Saw one dude leave with a steelhead. Everyone else left with cutthroat trout. The trout where going mad in that part of the river.

I vote for more videos, maybe a few on the finer points of handling a drift boat?

Jeff - I enjoy your story telling and your voice-over voice. While I'm not keen to listen to you read the phone book (if there is such a thing anymore), you always put a friendly, gentle spin on whatever is at hand to our enjoyment. 10-15 minutes every so often is all we ask. ;)

so I have no interest in fishing, much less catching. as such, I'm at a loss to explain why I enjoyed this post so much, even looking up where the Cowlitz River was. Thought it was familiar - I was in that area 5 months ago. Now I have yet another reason to go back. No interest in fishing, but drifting along a lazy river is something I think I might enjoy.

Looks like you drifted a long way down the river with fast currents. A lot of paddle work to get back to the dock. Why no small motor to lessen the pain of going back up stream?
