Did you know that the safest way for a beginner to learn how to skate down steep slopes is for them to roll backwards? No, you do not need to know how to skate backwards to do this! In this video join me and my friend Patty @pattyrollingfree as I teach her to use gravity and her toe stop to control her descent down a gradual hill. We discuss technique, safe stance, and when you would use this essential street and trail skating skill. Don’t be afraid to tackle hills on the trails in your city! Once you can skate forward, you are ready to learn how to safely control your roll downhill!
Questions welcome in the comments!
Thank you to Patty for the Insta360 3x footage used in this video!
