Greetings! This week we are showing you all how we go about getting the right sized ties for our railroad. Despite the process seeming pretty simple, there's a lot of work that goes into it. A homemade railroad reminds me of what we used to have at the old zoo in Miami. You would never see that happen here in south Florida where overdevelopment is king.

A carbide-tipped circular blade would not dull as fast and would be just as good.

I can imagine the beating this would take on the chainsaws. Is the chain on this log processor different; do you have to maintain it a lot, or is more about the power? I love inventive ideas, efficiency and resourcefulness. Always nice when it works. Good stuff guys.

Hey Romeo! The chain on the processor is just about the same as what you would find on a saw but it's thicker, and it takes a little longer to sharpen after extended use. Thankfully this one is still good for a few more cuts before we have to swap it! Unfortunately these ties can be dirty or rocks can be embedded in them which can lead to sudden stops/chain swaps. All the previous ties were cut with an old husqvarna 257, and we went through 2 brand new chains in that process. This is a breeze compared to before 👍
