You should change the angle of the glass to see if shooting though the glass at 45degrees changes the trajectory of the bullet

how heavy is the bullet of 338 lapua ? and here I mean the whole bullet, with charge, case, projectile, prime everything, because I can't find anything on the internet about it ,I'm interested in the total weight, especially the one with the 16.2g projectile (250grains)

Kool video. The windows are rated ballistic, and the nomenclature is a ballistic window, not bulletproof, like a flack jacket isn't bulletproof. That's what you'd learn working with tactical vehicles. Never the less the ballistic windows performed well. We changed windows when they became cloudy, lamination separation, crack/s, get technical even a chip, then recycle with metal scrap.

I think you are basically right about the movement/penetration thing. I also believe you loose a small amount of penetration. If you line up empty soda cans in a row and shoot them , at some point the round isn’t penetrating them, but pushing them out of the way. So you loose that little bit of punch.

Target movement is NOT lost energy is simply transferred energy that cannot be completely absorbed by the point of impact. This transferred energy disperses damage outward

correct, the impact energy has already dissipated once the object moves. and fun fact, the movement of an object after it is hit by another object is the speed of sound in that object. that is simply the speed of energy inside that object.

Taofledermaus also used to say that the interaction between target and bullet is over before the target starts move. I believed them for years. Then they tested it, and didn't get the expected results. It wasn't a night and day difference, but there was a noticable difference. They don't tout that idea on his channel anymore.

In my opinion, looks like the glass was designed to deflect bullet down because of chest armor worn by troops. Better survive rate. My old 1989 Hummer had just glass, vinyl doors and plastic top. Our body armour was flack jackets. Great video

For the engineers, the answer is yes, it will effect it... But the higher the velocity of the bullet and heavier the mass of the target, the more and more negligible that difference becomes. A slow moving projectile against a light/soft object will decrease the impulse, which is energy transfer over time... Effectively, higher impulse is the most effective way of penetrating a target. It's why you'll splat on concrete but a net, mattress, or even a bunch of empty cardboard boxes or snow at the same velocity can save your life. Kevlar will capture the bullet, steel will shatter it... unsupported Kevlar will have a much easier time "stopping" a bullet (capturing it) despite the far lower resistance to penetration of equivalent rated steel. The problem with silk is that it is super strong, but EXTREMELY stretchy, so it will stop a woven bullet, but it won't slow it down enough before it hits flesh otherwise it would be too bulky to wear (no matter how light).

I would have presumed based on what I know about long and short recoil operated fire arms that any movement in the glass target and frame would be after the impact had been completely absorbed. In fact if the round was going to penetrate the glass wouldn't have moved very much at all. I have also read that any Spitzer bullet will tend to tumble after hitting a relatively solid target. The shape of the bullet puts the center of gravity towards the rear. So when it hits anything that destabilizes it it tries to right itself. Heavy end forward.
