Maybe one of my favourite songs ever. The bass line at the end with the hopeful yet daringly questioning chant always has me near tears. It is so positive and comforting, yet so melancholic as if the lyrical I would already know about the fragility of his own hope. Gojira only released this live video a month ago or so, never played it live. This is even more touching. Gojira is love.

Aaron A. Foster That claim can be true for many people regardless of the bible existing or not. Believers constantly try to claim morals and all things good for them selves saying god is the source, but then failing to demonstrate how that can be. Bugs me a little.

This is what gets me. Between this reaction and the reaction to Cirice yesterday you've come so close, yet completely missed. For people that are supposed to be big on self awareness you've managed to completely overlook yourselves for the second time in 2 days. I am telling you, if you have a fraction of the self awareness you claim to have you should watch your own Ghost reaction from yesterday and see if you catch what you said in that video. It ties into this one and moral evolution and it's really baffling to see someone so on the money yet dealing in the wrong currency. Think dinars not rials.

Gojira is probably my 2nd favorite band outside of Tool. This song I've always had mixed feelings on, as I feel the song is a bit repetitive and doesn't have the same dynamic movements that a lot of their songs do, but is very emotionally driven and has great lyrics. Love the message of it. But feel like it's best when listened to when taking on the entire album than as a stand alone song.

This why I listen to whole albums and not random songs. This song is essentially just a part of experience. The tapping gets to be mundane at some point. Hmm, this makes me wanna play the last 4 albums in a row. 😁

I'd fully endorse a live listen session for Gojira. Since you've listened to most of this record I'd suggest their album The Way of All Flesh which follows this one. It's where they really fully developed their sound and went completely out of the box sonically, it has The Art of Dying on it as an example.

Damir Agović Did you read the part where it says for what purpose or who? If you read Ecclesiastes, it talks about "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven" and goes on to say there's "a time for war and a time for peace"... there are also rules for war that include a beginning in which each side "makes terms", give options for peacefully resolutions and to what end victory is declared. The Geneva Convention and the U.N. are founded on those principles.

Little Gojira tip about their music. Gojira is the Japanese word for "Godzilla", which was a monster movie series that was an allegory on the USA's stance on Environmentalism, which is why this band takes its name. In every song they have a guitar sound like the Godzilla "roar". Also, the drums rarely blast beat kicks / sticks at the same time, it's always double time kicks and slow hand work, or fast handwork and slow kick drums! It's like an easter egg with their music!
@thoronthol1175
@thoronthol1175 5 жыл бұрын
Bill, agreed that Gojira crafts their music in monstrous ways purposely (and effectively), but, from my perspective Godzilla movies came to be as the nation of Japan fully digested the terrible reality of a giant monster coming from the sea and destroying/saving them, complete with atomic breath. An invincible, indomitable, relentless, frightening savior, incarnate... the precise role the US played through WWII and beyond. I think the widespread concept of environmentalism was born well after Godzilla appeared on screen. But I might be wrong :)

Just found y'all's channel tonight. I don't believe in god so I don't necessarily agree with every conclusion you come to, but I definitely appreciate your knowledge and the context you bring to these lyrics...you bring a lot of insight and perspective I wouldn't otherwise have because I don't read the Bible. This is probably my favorite reaction channel I've found because you actually dissect some of my favorite songs instead of simply judging the sound/feel of the music. Gojira is definitely peerless right now when it comes to originality and message. I'm glad you chose a handful of songs from them because I don't really know anyone who likes metal and can't talk about these songs with others.

I was brought up in a Pentecostal church. I've read the bible from cover to cover several times searching for answers that led me to become and atheist/free thinker. And to answer the question why I think most Christians do not believe in global warming or don;t care: when you are told that this world is not your home and you are just visiting, or the world and animals are yours to reap, that heaven awaits and that is your real home. Pardon me, but why would you care about this world and its of the flesh sinners when you believe there is something better when you die?

Very nice after the song conversation. I thing the main point is that humans are 'mostly' on low intellectual level (mindless consumers) Some smart people do nice stuff but that people consumed like an ice cream. For example - Rupert Diesel has committed suicide after his invention don't go to liberate the people as he saw it. The love of money is root to all evil.

We've evolved towards a consumer society, leading to producing too much (of basically everything), rejecting tons of shit in our atmosphere, on our soils, in our oceans (well it's been going on since the 1940-50s i suppose)... That's the mentality we need to change, that's the source of the global warming Gojira sings so well. We have technologies, but recycling costs more than producing, quality means less money for the big factories, etc etc... We have to fight, to make people change their habbits... Hard stuff that...

kieke187 awesome track, probably my favorite off of that album. Contrary to popular belief, it's not about but inspired by the German men who met over the internet, one of them cut his penis off, then they both cooked and ate it together. Lol but yeah, the riff playing over the chorus is just fucking BEASTY. So groovy.

I would get very tingly if you did a breakdown of From Mars To Sirius. And The Way Of All Flesh. :) And yeah, this song is supposed to be very repetitive and cyclical and meditative. It's the closer of the album. Not my favourite song of theirs but beautiful lyrics.

Watching them play the hammer ons and pull offs make my hands hurt. I like the heaviness of the music and I enjoy the lyrical content. But I still struggle to enjoy them together as a whole. It’s weird. I know. As for a lyric breakdown of an entire album I think that’s a stellar idea. Much preferred over the live listen of an album. Recommend more Ghost and also a band called Batushka. The latter being an orthodox death metal band. Robes, chants, incense..death metal...etc.

A little constructive criticism: Make the video you are reviewing large, and the video of you watching the inset. You guys listen to complete songs without interruption usually (as you should). The focus should be the work you are reviewing, not the act of reviewing. Once the song is concluded, or you feel the need to interject, make your visage larger. Until then, let the art shine. Keep it up.

And to clarify, the reason I suggest that for your channel and not a lot of the other [insert here] reacts channels, is they usually talk throughout and then only have a minute or two of content after the song concludes. But for your format where you extensively discuss the content after, you will get plenty of face time. No need to take it up during the performance. Like I said, keep it up. I dig the open analysis and tackling themes most (or the loudest minority) of Christians wouldn't be open to fielding.

thats it. He believes that the "Engineers" designed us. We evolved from the monkeys, but this evolve happened because of dna manipulation. There is no connection yet how the hell we evolved from the monkeys.
