The way the framerate slows down when he bites the train to mimic stop-motion... So much attention to detail!
@FrkyFrenchFryFriendsАй бұрын
It looks more like they actually animated it frame by frame instead of just slowing the framerate.

It’s not stop motion being mimicked, it’s suit Matioj guy in suit mimick

The original film was filmed with a suit.
@dastardlydino9750Ай бұрын
@@mclovinpo I'm pretty sure it's meant to be stop-motion for that one singular scene, and then the other full-body shots are suitmation, since there's no way a human in that suit would be able to bend over so far. You can tell when the animation is replicating suitmation, puppetry, or stop-motion.
@SANDWICHvanquishАй бұрын
I love the fact that in some scenes it looks like stop motion, and sometimes hand puppets and then back suitmation style The level of detail is just, even the flames look like they were hand painted! I love everything about this video Truly feels like a love letter to the original 1954 film
@treykoyawena4443Ай бұрын
Fun fact the original film was going to use stop motion to bring Godzilla to life because the director was inspired by the stop motion in King Kong.

This has got to be one of the best pieces of fanmade Godzilla media I have ever seen on top of being one of the scariest depictions I've ever seen of the big guy along with feeling like I'm watching the original movie all over again. He appears 40 seconds in, but it's done so masterfully, he's as quiet as a cat in a manner where you wouldn't even know he's in the same space as you until it's too late. It's also really unnerving how real it feels in that it's just so authentic in its presentation. I love how the fire is as big as it would be if it was a man in a suit on a set and Godzilla's character animation just feels like Godzilla, being that you could forget that this was all made in Blender with how well every aspect of it was handled and the techniques taken to make this look like a live action film. I think what really sold me on this was your usage of THE Godzilla roar, the one that Shinagawa-Kun and MinusGoji used a lot, being saved for his regeneration at the end. It really felt as if he has gotten significantly stronger since they never used it in the original film outside of the opening credits. Another favorite thing about this that I wanna mention is his atomic breath, it looks as if it was made in the same way that they made it so long ago. In short: I love this because of how it pays its respects to the franchise in its presentation, bringing out a visceral feeling when watching it that hadn't been reached since the original.
@leorraptor3243Ай бұрын
The fact that it moves like the original godzilla but it kinda has a realistic muscle movement gives it this rather eerie aura, like real footage of something surreal. Also, gotta love that Harry Hausen stop motion animation moment.
@Zeldafan10095 күн бұрын
I keep coming back to this animation. It is, by far, one of the greatest blender animations I think I’ve ever seen. The way you manage to capture the feeling physical movement in Godzilla and the dread of the original 1954 movie is nothing short of impressive.
@MatthewBLamontАй бұрын
Incredible! A brilliant love-letter the 1954 movie. It is what Eiji Tsuburaya dreamed of 70 years ago. He wanted a stop-motion animated Godzilla. Now you got it. Also, the combining between a man in a suit, stop-motion, and puppetry is purely brilliant.

h-holy fuck... you son of bitch you did it. You sold me on CGI. This is amazing, this is the best CG animation I've ever seen in my life, the stop motion, puppet, and suitmation shots are all perfect. The framerate, the textures, the way everything blends together, everything moves like it's supposed to... man I had no idea people could make stuff like this, this is amazing. This should be a KZfaq creator awards winner one day , the movement is a remindence for suitimation as well as the special & visual effects created by none other than eiji tsuburaya himself , if this gains reviews , I love to see some future Godzilla movies come to light with this format , also wanting to see some Ray harryhausen films remade with that same technique you give in blender , that goes for the lesser known monster films produced by other indie companies or American international pictures with it as well with a more modern mix

Dude, nice work! I love the way you were able to emulate not just the atmosphere and stylistic aesthetics of the old film's gradient, and overall look: but you managed to almost make this seamlessly be showing cut footage from the original! THAT'S what this felt like we were watching. I think the only critique I had to give was whenever we had shots of Godzilla's back, the spines were not floppy or waving around, which is more a stylistic continuity than it is a realistic continuity. Realistically, his spines should NOT wobble and wiggle, but since we've all come from the cinema of Godzilla films, we're so used to seeing the spines wobble and wiggle (like a man in a rubber suit). But honestly, you captured it all: the music, the frame rate, the older aesthetics, the tone, and the cinematography were all spot on. The camera motions, the jump cuts, the zooming and panning, oh man, you just nailed it. Very well done!
@NolanThunderАй бұрын
DUDE...how has this not gone viral yet?? This is better than a a good chunk of Godzilla films out there. This captures the spirit of 1954 perfectly, while doing its own thing in a cool way. I love your cinematography here. I hope the world rewards you for your efforts.

Someone really did their homework. this looks and feels a lot like an old TOHO monster film. the stock footage(tanks rolling up being looped to look like more are coming in but it's just footage being played over) the jerky stop motion like moments, he really looks like a man in a suit and a puppet at some points but with some realistic essence added to it. It's hard to explain but this fan film really gets it right. Good work!

But the way there's some scenes that look like stop motion, a hand puppet, even the way the beams look like classic early Ultraman beams... it's just beautiful. If you told me this was a fan recreation of 54 Gojira made with practical effects, like, I would believe you completely. This video nails pretty much everything that makes 1950's monster movies what they were. From the crudeness of the compositing, the camera work, the emulation of puppetry/stop motion - the authenticity with every detail is insane. There's so many moments where I couldn't even tell this was all rendered in a computer! Absolutely incredible work!

Do more of these.

The stop motion like fluid frames preceding 1:48 and the subsequent weightlessness of the falling train coach is such a lovely detail! Really makes you feel that you're watching miniature work! At 3:46 when gojira topples, the suitmation motion is so convincing, due to that stomach bulge, as it would with a guy in a rubber suit. Also the imperfect camera pan at 4:34! The short is amazingly done!
