The Gokyo Ri and Gokyo Lakes trek leads you to one of the most beautiful views in the whole world atop Gokyo Ri at 5,357m altitude. At this height you get to see a 360 degree view of the highest peaks in the world, including Mount Everest. It's one of the best treks in Nepal for its expansive views of the Himalayan Mountains.
The memories we made along the way are something we'll never forget. Meeting locals, walking through Himalayan villages, bundling up in -20C sleeping bags, playing Nepali card games and drinking masala tea in cozy tea houses were all a part of this incredible experience.

Gokyo RI is my dream since when I was a kid. I am now 21 and hope very soon I get to do this trek. To be honest, when you reached Gokyo RI, I was so overwhelmed that I started to cry. This happened when I was a kid too, I once saw Gokyo lakes n Gokyo RI on television and began to cry, that's when I knew, this is my dream trek. And that is what life is for me!

Very inspiring. I see lot of people going to Everest very unprepared. If I'm going to grocery store I check kitchen and prepare list of things needed and then go there, get it. Some people are trekking to highest altitude land on earth (EBC) and absolutely unprepared with fitness, and high altitude sickness and literally complaining entire way. But you guys are equally active.

Looks as amazing as when I climbed it 23 years ago. I always wondered how much it would have changed since I was there, but thankfully, doesn't look like it has changed too much

I am a poor Indian and from last 20 years I have go for trek in various area of Great Himalayas and it occurs in almost every season of the year. At high altitude season and weather is most important. For example I do visit EBC through Tangboache and Dingboache,Lobuche in June. Experience is bad, finally what I want to tell is whenever anyone telling about trek, date must be mentioned.

Really nicley captured footage and some extraordinary shots. May I ask you for your camera gear? Did you use ND filters ?
@groovymashedpotatoes1361
@groovymashedpotatoes1361 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No ND filters but circular polarizer was used a lot. I was using my Panasonic GH5 and was hauling around a Zhiyun Crane 2 gimbal. I recorded lots of sound on my iPhone 10.

There is also a more interesting "Cultural Gokyo" route from Namche, overnight places with *: Namche** - Tengpoche* - Phortse - Thore* - Nha* - Gokyo* - Renjo La pass 5360m - Lungden* - Thame* - Namche*. Several real villages not just lodge clusters along the way, and the oldest monastery in the region in Thame, besides the relatively new one at Tengpoche.

I hear from our guide that after Phortse it’s better to go to Dole and Machermo. Thore and Nha is a dangerous trail because it’s very unused.
@tapioportimo2551
@tapioportimo2551 Жыл бұрын
@@groovymashedpotatoes1361 Well, the trail is not as much used, but there are half a dozen summer villages and potato fields/kharkas along the Phortse - Nha trail used by the local farmers all the time. Also enough occasional trekkers to keep lodges at Thore, Thare and Nha running during the season. That means the trail is perfectly usable. You should also understand that guides often give advice which is self-serving. Like in this case they are not so familiar with the eastern trail and want to use a more familiar one. Bigger reasons are the possible kickbacks from the lodges they frequent (unlikely to get any from a lone Thore lodge where he is not known) and the possibility to meet friends and relatives along the way to play cards and drink rakshi with. So if you ask him to enquire about the eastern route and is told the trail is fine and lodges open, he still might translate the answer as "trail washed away by avalanche and lodges burned down", and you really have no way to find out the truth. Except when other trekkers in Gokyo exclame next day how amazing the east trail was...

Hello altitude sickness is a major concern to me , firstly because my wife takes aspirin daily , so I am searching for the best acclimatization itinerary, at Phakding will do a 300 m hike high and sleep low , being the first rotation and then in Namche we will sleep three nights instead of two . The two days will comprise of two hikes high sleep low , one to Thame and back +600 m and the other Khumjung +460 m . Prior starting the trek to Gokyo with the same itinerary as you . What do you think ?
@lifeinthesound
@lifeinthesound 10 ай бұрын
@waxonwaxoff6094 I completed this trek in April. Our first night was Phakding, then we had two nights in Namche. If altitude sickness is a concern, an additional night in Namche with day hikes should help. Hiking slowly each day will as well. I didn’t experience altitude sickness, but once I arrived at Namche, the altitude did impact my appetite and it made it hard for me to stay fueled throughout the trek. By the time I reached Dole, I was forcing myself to finish my Dal Baht each night…and I really love Dal Baht! I learned you burn around 3xs your MBR at 11,000 feet, so fueling properly is just as important. Highly recommend that you bring snacks to consume during the hike each day as well. It’s an amazingly beautiful trek!

@@lifeinthesound hi , thank you for taking the time to reply to my message and so soon . We are leaving on the 25/10 , yes I think that the three nights in Namche including two hikes high and sleep low will help indeed.when reaching Phakding we will try and also do one hike high and sleep low rotation. Thanks for the tip regarding the snacks .
