I use to carry a small plastic bottle of soapy water. I would pop the coin in and shake it until clean. Works great.

I do believe that a plow hit either a bag or clay pot with a Roman horde in it and scattered it in that field. That’s why they look like they were touching and got those marks on them. You will keep finding them for some time to come.

Great finds as per, especially the Roman silver coins. The lion passant was used in British gold hallmarks until 1844, so the ring is at least that old. 🙂

People used to make rings out of silver coins by hammering in the edges and holing the center, maybe that was the beginning of a ring...or not.

Have you drawn a map to see if you can narrow down a source for the hoard? I hope you can come up with a broken pot with the rest of the silver coins in it. Sorry but IMO the bronze bull was the best find ever. 😍 You should think about hosting a week long dig for those of us who aren't fortunate enough to live in areas with history! Great finds man! 👍😎🌴 I know it's still pretty cold there but I was struggling swatting a few mosquitoes while enjoying a nice Gold Caribbean Rum Punch in my carport while watching this. Our weather is pretty tropical but no Roman or English Medieval coins to be found here. Spanish gold & silver still in the ocean and washed up occasionally during hurricanes but a far cry from your "Fields of Perthshire" M8.
