I really enjoyed Chris with the Kingsmen! I'm so glad he is with Gold City now. GC holds a special place in my heart. They were the first music CD I ever bought as a teenager.

Yeah! I'd almost be willing to bet, that no one saw that one coming! Brother Jeff Chapman has been with the Kingdom Heirs since 2002, but apparently, him leaving the Kingdom Heirs has just happened recently. Brother Chris Jenkins has been with Gold City for awhile now, but these two, being in Gold City now, are what this group has needed for years! Sorry to have to say this, but the Tenor Singer, that went from Gold City, over to the Kingsmen Quartet, is one of the worst Tenor Singers, as it refers to being able to hit the high notes, that I've heard in my life! I'm really not meaning to be mean to the guy, but it is what it is. Listen to the Kingsmen Quartet doing the song "Meet me at the Table", from back just a few months ago, and you'll see what I mean. Anyway:I wonder, if Ray Dean Reese is kickin' himself, for letting Chris Jenkins leave The Kingsmen... again! We'll take this one day at a time, and see what happens.....

it was a god lead decision for dad and plus from family and friends but most importantly it came down to God telling him. God told him to take the Gold City Position and im in full support and for gold city…yes they have had changes but that it’s self is called business. Changes happen, again it’s called business. but thank you commenting that, i appreciate it. The Kingdom Heirs also have full support from dad, they are like family.

Agreed. I haven't seen Gold City in person for awhile, but the last number of months Chris was with them, he did just seem "off" in the videos that I'd watch online. Like he was going through the motions. Definitely something was going on behind the scenes that affected his on stage performance 😢

The reason why Chris was seeming off is because he’s going through a divorce. He’s separated from his wife

.....and, sure enough, your wish has been granted! I was so glad to see him go to Gold City. Looks like the Kingdom Heirs, though, have begun to fall apart, little by little. Jerry A. Martin left in 2021, or so, then, last year, they lost one of the absolute top Lead Singers that any Gospel Group could've ever had, Arthur Rice. Now, Jeff Chapman has left The Kingdom Heirs. What's going on?!? Even The Kingdom Heirs newest Tenor, Mr. Ellison, has left The Kingdom Heirs! That seemingly tells me something:I'm certainly not sure what's going on, but think about it:Two Tenor Singers, a Lead Singer, and now, their long-time Bass Singer: GONE! Is this going to mark the end of The Kingdom Heirs? We'll see....

I disagree with you Mark, Jonathan was great but Bruce has this powerful lead voice that's necessary with Chris and Jeff because they will outright out sing a weaker lead. Bruce is the Man

Chris West was the bass singer for GC and he left so they don’t have a bass singer right now so they asked dad to fill in for that weekend with them!

Some of my favorite Bass Singers, past and present, are Brother Jeff Chapman, Brother Michael T. Holcomb (That used to sing Bass for the Inspirations), Brother James "Big Chief" Weatherington (That used to sing Bass for the Statesmen Quartet), Brother Tim Riley (The former Bass Singer for Gold City), Brother Ken Turner (Who used to sing Bass with The Blackwood Brothers, and other groups), Brother Nick Val (Who used to sing Bass with The Plainsmen Quartet), and Brother Troy Evans (Who used to sing Bass for the Gospel Group known as Accapella). I could go on and on...but I'll stop there. Your Father is in, I believe, good hands with Gold City. I very much enjoyed hearing him sing Bass with The Kingdom Heirs, and also with The Anchormen, back in the 1990s. Him doing the song "Marvelous Grace" always blessed my soul.
