That is a great idea to increase the washing with a battery powered highbanker.

Great ideas I would send them to Doc and see if they could come up with that concept for electric power cause alot of there equipment do require gas powered water pressure pumps

Another great video, AJ. Even though you have moved onto a trommel this video will be helpful to other folks using electric powered high bankers. Thank you for sharing.

Well done AJ, I'm going to steal your idea of the squashed double squirter. I'm about to get a highbanker and I will use it on that. I only use battery pumps. Thankyou for the ideas.

Awesome modifications I've got some more to do on mine thinking about getting some different mats I have the original Mini highbanker from gold hog and I run an electric I'm definitely going to try some different nozzle heads now I know I need to extend the Box up I've done other modifications to better the machine love your videos heck of a prospector you are can't wait to see what else you come up with I have some other projects in the mix Miller table and other things to run some Feingold try to save on some battery the key thing is run as much material as you can and catch as much as possible the nozzle ideas great if I come up with anything that works I'll let you know can't wait to see more videos keep them coming

Awesome video. Great ideas. My only concern is you have increased the water flow so much you could be loosing gold. Put a catch bucket and pan your tailings you might be too hot for the stock sluce. If you are loosing gold you might want to add the flaired extension. Awesome video.

AJ, I am a new subscriber to your channel and love your videos. I subscribed about 2.5 weeks ago. I just wanted to say keep em coming and keep doing what your doing! I'm not a prospector but love gold finding videos. I do have concerns about your new test setup though, like the pressure you have increased on your nozzles could be too much for the water flow on your lower mats. It may causes AU to flush too quickly out of the top of the hog, and not get much chance to be captured below. Also that with the 3 nozzles it will be harder and more time consuming to get the larger rocks out of the sluce, limiting your buckets per hour ratio. I

I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and thank you for your kind words! The water pressure is still LESS than what it would be with a gas powered pump. The system works best at 3500-4000 gph. The new nozzles will help wash the pay dirt better but its still in the ~2250-2500 gph range. When the water falls through the grizzlies, it hits the 'hog moss' to dampen the flow, then flows under a piece of rubber flap to smoothen the flow. the vast majority of the gold is caught in the first 6-10 inches of matting with very little below that. I have though just bought a 36inch sluice extension JUST IN CASE gold gets past the main sluice with the new setup =) You will see it in action on my next video!

How's the clearance at the bottom of the Y fitting to the hopper?? Really like this idea just curious how much space you have. Would fist size rocks get hung up on the Y?

I forgot all about this video.. So. I'm working on something like this now, but I'm still trying to find a Y fitting.. But I think with all of the PVC fittings I have that I should be able to make something work.. We have a cheap store near me that sells PVC stuff real cheap.. 0.50 for a 2 inch T.. and. 0.50 on all of their fittings that they sell.. A 10ft peace of 1 1/2 or the 10ft 2in PVC is only $2 each.. I love that store.. I go there a lot and I usually try to buy at least 2 5 gallon buckets full of fittings each time I go.. Lol.. But not the 1st Y like yours

Have you thought about maybe a slightly bigger pump instead of running two. I run a Johnson 4000 gph pump, it seems to have a bit more pressure and flow then you have at similar hose length. Once I get over 20' of hose I need to turn my 45° elbow around like you did in your other video. Which was a great idea, thanks for that!

I am over budget by a mile this year on gold prospecting, so any new pumps will have to wait for 2018. Wow 20 feet of hose? Thats amazing there is any pressure from that bilge pump after that much distance! Must be a quality pump =)

JIMinBama1 -- I had a Gold Cube with the Banker attachment, and sold it, I did not like it. First of all it does have outstanding recovery of about all visible gold. But the disadvantages far outweighed the advantages: 1)Vortex mats need scrubbing every day before use because of air bubbles in the matting cavities. 2)Fine vegetation roots get hung up in the matting. 3)Way, way too many many pieces to set up and take down and transport. 4)Slower than molasses in January, painfully slow to process bank run material through the Banker attachment. Pre-classified is better but time consuming. I have never tried it but the Trommel attachment which might be faster. Forget using it in the field for the reasons mentioned above. But if you have it permanently set up in a garage or shop (recirculating) for processing sluice, dredge, or highbanker concentrates then the Gold Cube would be good to buy for you with its outstandingly about 95% to 100% visible gold recovery. There are 2 units I would get rather than and instead of a Gold Cube. The Gold Hog Piglet and/or Multi-Sluice. This is my favorite, the Gold Well or Devin Gold sluices: www.devingoldexploration.com/ About half way down the page there are Gold Cube mats available. Also the highbankers are listed on the links on the left hand side.

@@bottle17528 Because it's more fun to me to use an automatic panner especially after I already done classified two 5 gallon buckets 3/4 full of concentrates then i just sit down and slowly run it through the panner and relax and see my gold at the end !!! MORE FUN !!!

Swap out your hose for the shortest possible length of smooth bore, flexible PVC hose and you should have plenty of pressure out of the stock nozzle. Corrugated hose creates a surprising amount of friction loss, which makes your pump work harder and drains your battery faster. You're seeing higher pressure with your flattened nozzles but at reduced GPM. The wye is also creating lots of friction loss. I tried smooth hose on my Piglet at the end of last season but with the smooth bore hose strapped to the top of the hard PVC, dumping straight into the destruction zone with no nozzle and there was TOO much water. It splashed dirt right out of he top of the box. My hose is supposedly 1.5" but doesn't quite mate with the hard PVC. Now that it's finally raining out here in the west, I'm going to fit some proper smooth tubing and a pulse width modulator to see if I can tone the flow down and extend battery life. This is also with a 3700 GPH bilge pump.

I found an adapter to mate my smooth hose to the 1.5” PVC today and ran some old tailings at home. Using the stock nozzle, it doesn’t splash out like it did with an open hose, but it definitely has better washing action with the smooth hose than the corrugated hose. It looked very similar to how it runs on my gas pump. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qLVmpbR319CvqIE.html

New sub here...great video! What state (or province) are you prospecting in? One more Quick question....how many amps are you pulling with those 2 pumps? I’m turned my Stream Sluice into a highbanker with a homemade Hopper and I’m using a 2200 gph pump from Johnson Controls that pulls 10 amps. My battery is a group 24 marine deep cycle wet cell and it will easily last a weekend running for 8 hrs. each day. (I’d like to go to a lighter battery but unlike you I do not shut off the pump once I start shoveling...and I don’t stockpile my pay(why move it twice).

Or also try using a Honda WX-10, 1" inch water pump with those modified flattened nozzles.

How long can you run off that setup on one battery. Also what battery are you using?
@AU79Prospecting

All day if I massage the battery. (I predig the material (sluice off), then turn it on and run all the stored pay at once). When I go back to digging, I shut off the biggest pump and leave 1 small one running. The key is to only drain the battery when you are running paydirt and NOT when you are digging! I use a 90aH Deep Cycle Marine battery.

Should have just bought a cheap highbanker and run a electric pump. The piglet was better designed to run with a gas pump. Your design changes are a joke. Adding flares to crash box, adding another pump, just run a gas pump for better waterflow.
