I've been using an airbrush since about 1964, when I was learning my Bump and Paint trade ... in those days if you had a trade school or an Apprenticeship at some business, at age 15 you could do your High School class work from 7:05 AM to 11:55 AM. In the afternoon after lunch you went to your apprenticeship. In those days we often used a "Binks Wren or Paasche" single action airbrush to touch up chips in the paint work. I started art college and one teacher I had did illustration work for Pontiac Motors and brought his airbrush to class showing us how to "Glaze" over a water color painting and NOT re-wetting the surface. It was great for sky's, sun sets, and water reflections. One issues was most guys wanted you to put a clear coat over the stripping. At that time there were no custom paint colors that came in enamel, so you had to lay out a pin stripe masking with tape, airbrush Lacquer for the stripe and then a lacquer clear coat. The rep from DuPont told me at the shop one day that the new polyurethanes were enamels with a chemical hardener, so I tried "One shot" pin stripe enamel with about a third of the mix the hardener. I then clear coated it with "Emron" clear... it worked like magic, a secret I kept till the 80's as I move to Australia to be a teacher after 9 years US Army (2/502 Inf, 101st Airborne, Vietnam)....

Ryan, mate. You are a complete dag. Australian slang "dag" Dag is an Australian and New Zealand slang term, and it is used to describe an amusing, quirky and likable person (as in, "He's a bit of a dag") and is non-pejorative. Love the series and I appreciate the work, time, and skill very much.

I'm a new subscriber just sayin' 'Hi'. I'm picking up the airbrush again to custom paint after about a decade of inactivity. Great stuff here. I kinda did this gold leaf technique years ago, but I ran the size through the airbrush, not paint. With leaf, you gotta hit that window just right.

Love to hear it broski!! And I'm glad to have ya on Deck in the BloodShot ARMY!! 🤘😎 I too did the sizing through the airbrush.. I found that it was a bit of a pain to clean.. I actually did the 1SHOT base with a brush first, then tried the airbrush. 🤔 Granted .. they to give different effects. And if you want to do some engine turning, it won't work well this way... however in part 2, I'll show how I do with a paintbrush and engine turning!! Not sure when... but it will happen!! 😁👍 stay tuned!! Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio!!🤘😎

good to see the airbrush being used, I was thinking it would be better than a manual brushing, more even,nice work bloodshot !!! run a self tapping screw in the top of the one shot cans,, paint lasts forever bacause it doesnt skin over every time u open the can,, just remove the screw and pour out what u need then put screw back in immediately, i also put a stainless nut or bolt in the cans when I first get them to make the paint mix faster when its been sitting a while.,

I definitely recommend to apply a clear coat to seal it in and give it the best durability possible.👍 But I've been doing it this way along with size for years. It will depend upon the humidity in your area. But a good rule of thumb is to allow it to become a bit tacky without transferring paint when you touch it! 😁 Hope this helps broski!! Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio!!🤘😎🍻

Great video brother, love your content. I just had 1 question, can you still do the burnishing swirls with using 1 shot instead of the sizing?
@BloodShotAirbrushing

Thanks broski!! Glad to have ya on Deck in the BloodShot ARMY!! To answer your question... Yes and no.... lol🤔😁 it is going to be tough to do the engine turning effect over the texture surface that spraying gives ya.... however... if you use 1SHOT with a paint brush, it takes a bit longer to set up for the gold leaf. But you can do the swirling engine turning effect over that without issues!! 😁👍 as with anything my friend, I reccomend doing a test sample before you start a project to get the timing right! 😉 I hope this helps you out a bit my friend!! Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio !!🤘😎

P.s. I plan to do a part 2 for the gold leaf series, using 1SHOT with a paintbrush and doing some engine turning! Not sure when... but do stay tuned!! 🤘😎

When do you no, the right time to apply the gold leaf Is the paint tacky or some what dry. Great video Thank you.PS what;s the one shot paint number.

Test the border of the paint to see if its tacky. It should be sticky without transferring paint to your finger. Then you're good to go!! 😁👍 Hope this helps!! Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio!!🤘😎🍻

thank you for sharing your experience with us, brutha! much apprecited. After spaying the gold 1 shot, how long until you apply the leaf? Are you waiting for the paint to become tacky or?

Thanks for being a part of the BloodShot ARMY my friend!!😁👍 And, You guessed it. Dry times will vary depending on humidity levels. I like to have a place that is painted at the same time, that isn't a part of the project. Then test it with my fingers for dryness. You want it tacky, but not wet enough to have paint transfer to your fingertips. ☝️ I hope this helps you out broski!! Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio!!🤘😎🍻

How long does the one shot enamel stay tacky?
@BloodShotAirbrushing
@BloodShotAirbrushing 4 жыл бұрын
It depends on environmental conditions. We are fairly dry up here, so it can flash in 5 mins, up to 30 if you're in a wetter climate. I recommend always doing a test sample before ever tackling a project! This will help sort out any issues! 😁👍 Hope this helps my friend!! Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio!!🤘😎🍻

Here's an idea for you matey, why dont you ask the subscriber's what they would like you to paint And then paint it and then put it up for sale and then donate the money to a local charity of your choice , 1) the buyer would have a one off painting done by your fine pirate hands 2) the local charity would gain some money 3) and you would have done a good deed (karma, bro ,give today and you reap the rewards tommorow) I am not religious but i believe in karma What ever you decide, take care mate, peace🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧😁😁🖖
