Looking good Robert. And yes, there is something wonderful about the smell of a mountain stream area.

Those riffles are great at catching gold, mine are always loaded with flakes. Problem is that you’re digging where lots of other people have already dug out plus there’s mostly sand. Try going up the river a bit. Good luck!

Killer video rob,,I really enjoyed it,,in the mid 90s I use to mine up there with a good friend,,but we hiked in past the bridge to Nowhere and around there,,we used to find all kinds of Gold up there,,,we would mine for 3-4 days at a time,,,He knew how to read the River,,everywhere we dug we found that yellow stuff,,,I would help out just to learn all I could about it and that River…keep Going

at 14 seconds in, when you point, there's a gulch across the river. look close, you'll see an old trail with tailings dumped off it. It is MY guess, there is or was and old mine or prospect in the crevice there. Now, around the ridge, heading towards Heaton flat, about 50" off the riverbed, there is a concrete slab, it was the foundation for the monitor water canon they used to hydraulicly mine that wall, leaving the scars still very visible. Further up the wall, there is a huge white boulder, many have under and seems to have rolled down from above, possibly from the water jet. That monitor is setting on the Chapman properties in baldy, along with many other historical items rusting away. There is so much history there! I remember this one red head prospector with a light blue tent who used to use a rock as a pillow! That was a long long time ago

I was wondering when you were going back to the river to pan for gold. Good for you.

Robert , you need some mercury. there was a lot of floating stuff, and you would not think it was gold, but the air bubbles float it.. At about 21 min. you can see it. There was for sure a lot more find gold, which the mercury can also get. Keep using the same mercury on every trip and then ....pieces of gold actually cement together giving you a nugget. I used this method years ago up on Shirt Tail Creek near Colfax, California. In fact, when i would pan out from my riffles, I would also find mercury. The old miners lost it there and it remained. Good luck, and just have fun, you won't get rich in your pocket, but in your spirit. Now I am in Italy and no gold here. ha ha..just pizza.

That was a good looking spot but I’m sure it gets worked to death. To get gold there like you said you would have to go somewhere a lot of people won’t go

1849 Was a bad year for John Sutter....He was intending to create a settlement and his employees found gold deposits in the mill race.... Within a very short time, his land and his dreams of prosperity were utterly destroyed by the Invading mob of men who didn't care who's land the gold deposits were to be found.... And,as they say: the resulting insanity destroyed Mr Sutter's wealth and dreams..💔
