Welcome back to the Metal Detecting NYC channel! Gold season happens all of a sudden! Why is it called the Golden Season? The fact is that with the arrival of the hot summer, people flock to the beach, and the skin on their hands becomes wrinkled from the water. As a result, it becomes much easier to lose rings and chains. This is when the Golden Season on the beaches begins for those of us who enjoy searching with metal detectors.After changing my strategy, I notice that people are dropping valuable rings in a place that I overlooked for a long time. I end up finding and returning a $2000 ring. There is lots of treasure and trash dropping in the sand already.

My best beach detecting tip is to plan on timing. 8pm onward, that thwarts that pesky sun from burning your skin, avoids sunblock sweating into your eyes.. Oh and the little one's wont be on the beach to ask a billion questions on what you find! lol

I’m a very successful Treasure Hunter in Texas and have returned several class rings, wedding rings and other items to my credit. That’s my favorite part of our great hobby. My Tip would be just get out and metal detect and do some recons and see where the crowds gather on the beach and in the water. Go to the beach 2 hours before low tide and swing low and slow. Listen to the deep targets and dig them. Learn what your machine is telling you and go by sounds more then VDI numbers. Looks for low spots on the beach. Also find the target patch on the beach and search it completely. Follow coins lines too.

Best beach detecting tip. Detect the beach between the sand bars at very low tides. This is the location where swimmers have lost the most jewellery over the past decades.

My Beach Metal Detecting Tip: "If it beeps, dig it!" - Sure, we can be cocky and think it is a bottle cap, pull tab, or even super low tone like iron, but the reality is that the awesome items can fool us with just the tones - it depends on shape, orientation, length of chains, etc. A rolled up gold chain can sound like a tin can, or even super low tone like a tent stake. A ring sitting sideways can show up very low, and faint, even sound choppy, like a bottle cap. Yeah, I know, I leave the beach with more garbage than some of my other detecting buddies, but at least I'm doing my part and cleaning it up. Plus, if I return to that beach often, there will be less junk to find. Just dig it, you dig? .

I'm a metal detectorist from Poland. My tip for dry sand detecting: Lots of people doesn't always mean valuable targets. Big city beaches are usually very messy and also heavily searched by other metal detectorists. You'll mostly find bottle caps, cans etc. especially if it's a spot close to night clubs where people come to party. Instead, try what I like to call "family beaches". Places where people go to actually relax with their families and not party. So even if it's a small seaside town/village instead of a large city beach you can find plenty of rings, bracelets etc.

Yes also partiers are usually young and don't own valuable jewelry or wedding bands....they party their money away lol. I find the same a my local beach. There is the party side and the family side. The family side produces almost everything. Rarely find anything on the party side where the kids are.

Always check the dry sand at the beach. Not only is it easier to sift theough a beach scoop - but it's easier for items to be lost. If you are aware you drop something in the wet, you might hear it bounce and see where it comes to a stop and retrieve it. But if you drop a coin or ring on dry sand it is almost completely silent and quick to be lost under the surface.

When i go beach detecting i take a bunch of small flags and my kids. I give the kids a pinpointer and something to dig with. All signals get a flag, but ofcourse i dig the more promising targets...😂😮😅

My best beach tip/tips are to slow down and dig everything that makes a sound. Every sound on the beach can be treasure don’t rely on numbers just concentrate on your ears. On that note wear headphones! 😂

@@MetalDetectingNYC forgot to mention one of my favorite tips for beach detecting, remove your coil cover, they hold sand and that added weight really drags on the arm so with no cover I don’t carry the extra weight!

The NY Beaches were looking good when I was there - kind of miss it, but I'll be back a few times this summer. I'm back in Florida now (HOT!). I've been hitting the water with the Deus ii, but still stormy and kind of rough seas on the ocean side - the GOOD part is that the rough surf knocks items off people. but still hard to detect in it. I am finding lots of drops in the sand!! Stay safe and keep hunting.

The best tip of them all is an apple to the teacher any and read Merrill Kazanjian and Terry Shannon on line and paper back book listen to what they have to say and hopefully we don’t get a test at the end and show your support give a thumbs up. He is one of the best teacher since high school.

My tip here on the east coast of England is look for the cafe/ice-cream shops on the promenade and metal detect in front of them it's where they all sit on the wall or sand

Hi guys I added a swivel handle to my scoop shovel handle it allows me to drag the scoop behind and not twist in my hand which leaves a trail in the sand which allows you to see exactly where you have been, old school tech

I am a teacher/metal detectorist from Green Bay, WI. Thank you for your channel! I always love unlocking Häagen-Dazs. We don’t have tide action in the Midwest and our wave cuts are usually small so my beach metal detecting tip is to keep an eye out for disturbed places. Blanket/towel impressions, umbrella stake holes, etc. Be observant. Think like a kid. Where would you set up camp if you were there as a beach goer?

If you're water hunting get a scoop with a small earing catching center zone. It's frustrating to see that diamond stud earing fall through your scoop time and time again, LOL. Lots of earing gets lost in the surf.

The #1 best tip for beach hunting is also the best tip for metal detecting overall and it's an old real estate axiom, Location, Location, Location! Number #1, IT has to be there. Number #2, YOU have to put your coil over IT by being there. "Nuff said, now go out there and dig silver and gold, Gotta Love It!

My best tip is to have a proper swing. Level to the ground and cover every inch on your left to right swing. Too many times have I seen even seasoned veterans have large gaps between left and right which often means 40-50 percent non searched ground. Example: Last night I’m pretty sure it was Flash Gordon with a detectorist buzzed by and rudely took my search line but I saw his erratic swing and stayed steady. Later in the same spot he was searching, I found an 18k Cartier ring which retails $2k. If you don’t swing over the ground where the target is, you won’t get the target. 🎯 💍 I already have 20 rings since May(2 last night) and averaging 1 ring a night.

Beings I'm from Nebraska, we have tiny beaches that take 30 minutes to detect. Now with that said you most great finds are old churches that don't exist anymore and are now corn fields. So search the corn and soybean beaches in April and October! Love the channel!

One tip I tell others when they lose the signal of a target they just spent 10 minutes on is press the pinpoint feature on the detector and swing back over the area. Most of the time, this will bring out the location of the hidden target item again. Don’t waste more time zigzagging your hand held pin pointer around. _/ 👍🏻

New to the hobby but I believe the best tip is to not stick to a particular plan. Be flexible on when and where you go hunting. Don't think treasure is going to be in any particular spot. And dig it all!

Check and double check you have all your equipment before you leave home. A back up detector is always a good idea if you can.

Best tip #3. Bring 2 detectors. I switch between the Legend, WS6 Master, and Excal 2 for different beaches and conditions. Same for land and add the AT Maxx.

When I'm in the water and it was a very windy day crashing into the shore,the area just off shore has a trough where the water is deeper,detect where the incline is down into the trough.here on Lake Michigan that area has been very productive

Tip from some Texas beach Heat metal Detectorists, Set your phone alarm multiple times to remind you to stay hydrated and drink water. Some times you get tunnel vision and time can get away from you and then you’re dehydrated.

Best tip #2. Get a thin wetsuit snd diving hard sole booties. Go during the storm and wind/rain, not after. Lightning is a no go. Sets off the detector. Good luck.

My best tip is when the sand is mostly flat coming from the water, hunt on the slight incline. But dont tell anyone. Haha. I found 3 rings last summer one day in that spot. Tungsten and 2 silver. Thanks for the WS6 Master videos. I love it.

My tip for at the beach - dont skip the volleyball courts. Especially close to where the nets would be. i dont know how many rings, earrings, pendants, and chains I've found this way, even a couple watches - including an apple watch just recently.

11:22 Hey that's the1999 MIT class ring I found back in 2012, I was 2 years into metal detecting, found it using a Minelab Sovereign GT hunting the wet sand on a beach in SoCal. Brings back memories, surprised to see it on your video! I still use a Sovereign GT to hunt the wet sand, and a Fisher Impulse AQ when I need a PI for black sand and depth.

Beach detecting tip: Go to a popular location at high season, at a quiet time, look at the tide tables and persevere. You just have to swing over the right spot...

If you understand the geology of sand movement, you will find more stuff. On Fire Island NY, sand moves west along the shore. This means hunt to the west of the most populated swimming areas rather than directly in those areas. Thanks for all of the videos!

Here is a tip for you. Metal detect underneath various piers on low tide. Plenty of people losing various items throwing things over and casting out and not many detectorists thought of this.

My best tip is to hunt entrances to the beach. These are used by everyone and if the entrance (exit) has a hill, people will rearrange their stuff before walking up the hill/stairs. Things get dropped

I've learned to follow the cruise ship people. Wherever the tour busses drop them off is a great place to find rings. Also, A beach with a strong shore break will strip the rings right off the fingers as they are trying to get out of the water so watch the surf reports closely. I spend almost ALL of my time in chest deep water getting pounded by waves.

I am writing from England. If you are on the beach and you find an older coin, 100 years old, stay there and look nearby. The next thing is black sand, usually there are old things there. I have found rings with red or green patina more than once, they were 9 carats but they were more than 100 years old

Look for the hard pack, rocky areas at old beaches. Silver coins, gold rings, other jewelry get wedged in the rocks, and typically isn’t very deep under the surface. I’ve dug 100+ year old coins right under the surface wedged in the rocks. Cheers from Bridgeport, Connecticut!

A lot of beach parking lots in Florida are gravel and crushed shell, go after it rains or night to dig a little easier, with more access to spots, best i got, ty for everything, YOUR THE BEST.

There is a golden rule I detect by.... best tip to give in my opinion.... always recheck your holes and always look for your coin lines and or patches.

Still dry sand at the Jersey Shore, congrats on the rings and return. Most everyone knows about hunting lifeguard stands, towel line, beach mats and showers. But during the dry sand the area behind the towel line where people plays sports is a often overlooked hot spot

My best tip on the beach is if you find a coin hole = ( multiple coins). keep digging around because someone was there and most times I find a ring close to that area. I hate the vodka caps, They sound good. LOL I pick up stuff people leave behind to. I was in OC MD and could not find a cut this year. Put the XP Deus 2 did not let me down 9 rings.

My best tip is before going to a new beach see if they have a live webcam. Study it for a while to see where the depositors are congregating. That will save time when you get there

The best tip I could give is to try to get out there as soon as possible after a major event has happened in that particular area on the beach or park.

Know how your local beaches react to wind direction and speeds giving the best cuts and watch for that. Be ready and don’t miss out cause good cuts can disappear in one tide! Dont discount less populated beaches, some of the best treasures are found there because they aren’t hunted as often.

My tip: watch live beach cams if in your area. They will show you where the most activity is and people swimming. Then go that evening or night. I have been doing this for years. I find a lot of gold. Also always do wet sand and cuts. A lot washes out and washes in with storms. Chase the first low tide of the day. I am a night beach hunter plus you get to see a lot of nature and good stars

When digging wet sand targets, they have a issue of sinking if you don't get it on the first scoop, so instead of checking the hole on the first scope take three real quick scoops before that ring sinks into the sand. I have found more success that way in the wet sand close the the water.

Go look at recent and historical photos of the beach and see where they placed the life guard chairs over the years. If there is a storm go dig those places first.

TIPS. my tip is see where the people sit. Especially on the weekend. Most of your finds will come from that area AND thats usually but not always where the lifeguard stands are.

My tip would be to watch Channels like this to learn how to do it right. I had a Whites Spectrum XLT back in the 90's for a short while now that i am retired i am trying to get back into the hobby an learn what i was doing wrong in the past.

Turn machine on and head directly in the water waist deep. (in summer) and work it waist deep to ankle deep until you hit something that gives you an indication of where targest are settling..

Here in the UK there are like 1 million detectorists to each beach so they are squeaky clean. If you find a trashy beach hit it hard.😅

Long time no chat Merril....My best tip is don't pick gold rings if they are still attached to the humans finger as they sunbath😛,as seemingly it can be a cause for black eyes..

My tip Merrill is 1. Dig everything (low trash areas may yield surprising finds) 2. Doing so tells you straight away what type of beach you are dealing with time to move on? or go all over the place? low and high! hunting for those honey holes aka hot spots. Most importantly 3. 😂 keep the humor up high and enjoy yourself at all times ❤

Before you go detecting , make sure your detector is fully charged or in my case , carry extra batteries !

Yes, simple but true advice. The Minelab products work so much better on the top half of the charge in my experience.

thank you for your videos! They're very informative and by checking every signal i found my first silver ring of the year! It was ringing close to a pull tab and found it among a few dropped quarters in the dry.
