The beauty of this as well is that 3 of the 4 goals were scored by players from BEFORE the takeover! Not to take away from the PIF's obvious influence in purchasing players that got the Toon here... but if you had told me a year and a half ago that Miggy, Longstaff, and Schar would score against PSG in the champions league, I wouldnt believe you.

Happy for Newcastle. I'm a Coventry lad/supporter but always had a soft spot for Geordies. Among the nicest, most charming, laid back and kind hearted people I have ever met - and I have travelled all over the world. This is their time and they deserve it. They have always quietly just got on with it, filling St James Park every week and never once being all entitled about being a big club bu under achieving.

@@SirMonkeySuit true, you can't build team mental fortitude overnight. Even Liverpool can't pull that kind of stunt every time despite how plenty they've done that. On top of my head i can recall 3 UCL match where Liverpool failed to pull such thing, the final vs real madrid where Bale goes nuts, vs atletico madrid where Morata's goal blew off any kind of hope for comeback, and vs Chelsea where both team slugging each other with rains of goals and chances. Coming back from behind on an important match is a rare occasion because it needs mental fortitude and luck.

This isn't down to money. Three players from the Steve Bruce era netted tonight. Many written off as championship-level players. It's down to hard work, belief, and Eddie Howe's coaching.

Plus we had no Botman and Lascelles has had intermittent appearances since Howe came in. He did very well last night. We still need another Botman level defender though and we will be rock solid.

Watching this game made me realise how good the implementation of VAR can be, sure a big decision might take a bit longer, but they will get the right decision. @@anonym8949 I watched the full game, nothing sticks out. Nothing was particularly nasty, the only decision that took VAR more than a few second was the potential offside/handball leading to the Burns goal.
