There's too much trauma in these players. They literally have PTSD at this point, with what they've been through over the last few managers. And that will infect the whole squad. Ralf is right. The only way ten Hag survives (and by the way, I am totally unconvinced he's at the level..) is if players like Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw, McFred, Rashford and Martial and some others are no longer at the club.

Why blame the board? When your mickey mouse coach is the one who chasing de jong a player that clearly show he dont want to play for United. Fees already agreed but de jong want to stay at Barca. The three biggest disappointments are the three most overrated players in PL. Bruno, Rashford and Sancho. We just handed Bruno a new golden contract. We are about to give Rashford a new contract. And we paid 75 million for Sancho a year ago and he is on 350 k a week. This would only happen at United.

Shocked you gave Maguire a pass today. Constantly marking space instead of a man, beating up Trossard but then left Malacia on Dunk on a set piece, and he was never near any danger. Tiny Martinez was constantly the one extinguishing fires and Maguire was never anywhere near him. He covered Maguire's ass all game.

Rangnick diagnosed the problem and gave some solutions. ETH in his naivety drew his line and decided to rediagnose the problem by trusting and testing the same "failed" players of last season. ETH needs to accept Rangnick's diagnoses - these players can't play a new style of football for a month. They can't be trusted.

The only person to blame here is Ten Hag he basically brought out the same team as last year and expected to get a good result. It’s like Ten Hag took on the job as manager and never watched a single game of United last year. In no other universe would Maguire start over Varane and Rashford over Ronaldo. And what was Ten Hag thinking with putting Sancho on the right side when all pre season he has been preforming well on the left.

1st half was shocking. Players playing the same way to the same limited ability as last season. Still playing maguire is so foolish. Varane and martinez is a much better pairing. Eriksen best player though by a mile but should be playing in a central position not as a false striker as he is at his best seeing everything in front of him.

New season but when I saw the starting lineup I wanted us to loose we have better combinations in midfield, and defence so we deserved that. I want us to keep loosing until those players are out. Why do managers keep starting them!!!

I watched 20 minutes before I realised that all my pre season Hope was evaporating before my eyes. Same players, same poor attitude and no desire or skill, and they will do to Ten Hag exactly what they did to all the other managers before them. The players as well as the board are running this club into the ground. Shame on them. Mark is right they did exactly ZERO of what Ten Hag wanted and he will be wondering what he has inherited and what a mess this club is in

Talent lacking in defence to play the passing out game. Starting with McFred was guaranteed failure in midfield. I liked Martinez, he looked like a player. Ronaldo looked disinterested and we missed chances normally we put away. Did Sancho play? Brighton gave us a lesson in spirit and passing. A deserved win.

You lot really should have got Conte in. The decision not to snap him up due to him not being of “the United way” or some other such bollocks, is the biggest mistake of many mistakes youve made in the last decade. He would have ruthlessly got rid of the likes of Maguire, McFred, Ronaldo etc. got in hungry players and had you competing for top 4 within a season. ETH just aint the guy to do that. Infact its already looking like Ragnick all over again. A coach who comes in, tries to implement his philosophy, players dont respond and slowly it all falls apart.

I usually agree with you mark but you cant give maguire a 5 then give martinez a 5, maguire kept running into the LCB position and making martinez have to cover the RCB position therefore creating a hole in the defence. Erickson was better than everyone else in that team and when donny came on we started to create some chances, play erikson over bruno and play donny over scott.

Yes Ten Hag is not being backed, that’s obvious.His team selection has to be criticised though, Maguire is our worse cb yet has a god given right to start every game. Malacia deserved to start over Shaw, there are better midfielders on the bench than McFred. Ronaldo had to start as well.

Was at the game. Martinez was impressive, Eriksen ineffective until he dropped back to play Quarterback with Ronaldo offering a target (that was severely lacking in the first half). McTominay and Dalot were both abysmal.

Martinez was not impressive, he was crap. Because he's a new signing no one wants to put him down. He got bullied by welbeck and should have got a second yellow for the pen. Maguire was better but he's not new so won't get a free pass

@@CH-pg1li I saw Maguire get rinsed by Welbeck far more than Martinez. LM was cutting out anything that came his way but sadly the midfield couldn't retain possession so the pressure was barely alleviated. Tough day all round.

Maguire, Shaw, Rashford and Mctominay must have a strong influence at United if every manager starts them. I have never witnessed in my 30-odd years of watching football such consistent crap be rewarded.

I am distraught we lost, but what I saw at the end of that game was what the Ten Hag system can do. We lost, but we did lose like we used to do. Ten Hag had to play Luke Shaw, Fred, Mctominay and Bruno to show the entire board today that we need help. It also allowed the players to redeem themselves and showed the fans their limitations in his system. So when he starts making the right changes, there will be fewer murmurings. I think next game we won't see Mc Fred or Shaw, and we will see what I saw in the last 30mins of that game. We lost fighting, staying calm on the ball, and playing within the system controlling the match even in the face of defeat. If he had won that game, it would have papered over the cracks in that team; he had to see them in an actual game in his system; you learn more from losing. I am not worried. We wanted a rebuild, and that doesn't happen overnight and spending your way out of it.
