My favorite kind of video game lore is when a backstory is retroactively added to a series that already exists and they come up with crazy stuff to just fill in the gaps and try to make sense of everything. And TF2 does a pretty great job of that

Fun Fact: The two factions of TF2, BLU, and RED actually represent more than their colours. BLU means Builders League United and RED means Reliable Excavation Demolition. One is a construction company, and the other one is a demolition company which indicates that BLU and RED are opposing factions. Also, it explains why the BLU team, the construction company, pushes the bomb cart rather than RED, the demolition compnay which is specialised for destruction at Payload mode. It is because BLU needs to destroy old buildings so they can build a new one, and the RED needs to protect old buildings so they can demolise it.

I do not believe that BLU and RED will help each other. Their chairmen, Blutarch and Redmond, despise partnership and sharing. For example, the Gravel war, which lasted more than a century, was broken out because these two brain defects did not want to share their land.

The l4d2 cast are currently in the hands of CEDA, but from what happens in the l4d1 ending comic we know that's not gonna end well, so their stories still have room for more. Although, if they made a L4D3, it'd probably focus on a new group of 4 anyway. We'd need another comic to actually wrap things up for the l4d2 cast.

In the map swiftwater the "plot" is that red is poisoning blu's water that blu is trying to bottle and sell so the obvious way for blu to stop them is by throwing a bomb equivalent to a nuke and that is why your trying to push the payload into reds building.

TLDW; it's because it's an endless, pointless stalemate between shell companies owned by twin idiot brothers because it makes Mann Co. lots of money to keep them equal. In MvM it's because the robots are just incompetent enough that it ground to a stalemate again. Everything beyond that is in the unfinished comic series.

the story of the badlands is that blutarch and redmond convinced him to buy a land which they believed had gravel,when they arrived it didnt have any gravel and was jsut a desert so out of spite Zephaniah left the land they made him to buy to blutarch and redmond knowing they will fight for it till the end
