This edition of China Book Club is on 'Golden Age' 《黄金时代》by Wang Xiaobo (王晓波), a novella that can probably be best described as historical comedy erotica.
If you do start reading full-length books in Chinese, I think this is the perfect one to start with. As a 21 year-old, protagonist Wang Er has been sent to the countryside during the Cultural Revolution. He loses his virginity to the beautiful 26 year-old Chen Qingyang, who he has a sustained affair with.
Years later he is asked to write a self-criticism, and he uses this long 'apology' to brag about his sexual conquests.
