For roughly a century and a half (1500-1650) Spain was the wealthiest and most powerful nation on earth. It also boasted of ruling the first truly global empire on which the sun never set, and of being the leading trendsetter in art and culture. This "Golden Age" in its history, which was funded by the seemingly inexhaustible gold and silver it extracted from its New World colonies, was also marred by dysfunctional shortcomings that caused an inevitable decline. In this webinar we will explore the rise and fall of the first truly modern world power and ponder whatever lessons might be learned from such a disaster.
