I can't believe they never put this on a console. The amount of love that they put into this is unreal! Strapping catapults to the back of your mount among everything else is awesome! What a beautiful game for its time.

Wow. This is exceptional. This should have been put onto consoles. The aesthetic design, characters, monsters, music and combat has been given a big overhaul and it is fantastic to see.

What really stands out to me is the sprite work in this game. I'd argue that it's a few years ahead of its time for 1992 - not so much in technological or animation terms (though those are nothing to exactly sneeze at either here), but more so the color palettes and the shading techniques used to actually draw sprites.

Contractor - "So what do you want this evil castle to look like?" Bad Guy - "Me, obviously"

That skeleton dragon is the real MVP.

I remember playing this with my brother on the arcade inside the laundromat. This game was awesome.

Damn that plot twist at the end when he climbs on the dragon like "You thought we was done?". Gave me goosebumps.

This will always be in my top 5 arcade games of all time.

Spectacular. Old school 2D Arcade games (the goood ones) have an air of grandisosity, big production, top of the game product that even most of 2D games nowadays lack. I love the scroll in the 1st stage with the big mountains, the cascade, the enemies, the weapons, music... top class enterntainment

I never play this one and it looks cool. SEGA definitely must release a Golden Axe HD collection!

I must say that Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder is my favorite video-game of all time, with how amazingly done it sure was in every way! I first discovered this at the old, now long gone Space Port II arcade at the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing, NJ, in the mid 90's, and would make it mandatory to play it whenever I went there. I'll never forget how devastated I was when I went to play it again at that arcade one day in late 99, and saw that this game was no longer there, and was told that they sold it. But they ironically now have it again at the new Starcade retro arcade they now have at that place. I frantically tried to find a console port of it of sorts, not realizing one sadly never existed. But I DID end up getting the Jamma PCB to it for my arcade machine down the road, which I have since sold when I got it on my Mame machine, and later my modded 2TB original Xbox console. But it still baffles me as to why this never got an actual console release, though can at least now (totally legally) play it at home on either the Arcade 1Up, and/or Sega Astro mini, which is good (besides having the actual board, and/or cabinet to it), but still.

A fantastic sequel...i played it to Death(literally) at the arcades...this type of games i really love playing...Myth/Gods/Deliverance/Moonstone on the Amiga...Barbarian 1,2 on the c64...Rastan Saga...God of War on the playstation consoles...i love this type of games...also a big fan of the Conan comics/movies.

You've played this before 😉 Lovely stuff, I remember when this first appeared in the arcades as a young lad and being fascinated by the new characters, particularly Gillius riding on the back of a huge guy and how Trix could heal with magic. The game was more of the same but different enough to want to play it. I just wish I was competent as you are playing through it! Would have saved me a fortune in 20p's!

Maaaan I loved this game when I was a child. Everything on it blowed my mind. The soundtrack really made me feel in the warzone, I loved how you could ride those giant insects, and furthermore, you could put a weapon above! 🤯🤯🤯 Also how there are options to reach the castle and the vertical walking parts. This brought back many memories deeply engraved in my heart! I was really good at this game but unfortunately at the expense of my studies lol… Then I was seriously addicted n kept playing truant jus to b able to hop by local arcade shop for few hrs of "practices" religiously 2-3 times per week! Sweet n sour memories I must say but it stays with me till now, 30 yrs later!
