Canelo vs. Rocky is a 12-round fight for the WBA Super Middleweight World Title presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Matchroom Boxing.
Co-Main Event: David Lemieux vs. Tureano Johnson is a 12-round middleweight fight.
The event will take place Saturday, December 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York City and will be streamed live on DAZN.

@@Sarissa99 yes, even though he didn't get off very many clean power shots in range on Canelo, he did land a few, including some combos, and if Canelo didn't have a chin on him too, it could have been an issue

@@Samuel-sg2iv He also started his pro career quite young and faced a lot of savvy veterans. By the time he was 18, he had a solid resume(in terms of being a prospect). Te most impressive of those being Miguel Vazquez. First time they met, Vazquez was making his debut, and the second time they fought at 147. But Alvarez was only 17 when he beat Vazquez for the second time.

Angulo was never quick, but Canelo's work to the body slowed him up more right from the start, so he looked particularly slow here.

I swear that for the first 3 rounds angulo seems like he's not really punching canelo but more like touching him. It struck me so hard that I had to stop to comment it. Meanwhile Canelo's punches seem like bombs. I don't know if the sound has been modified or something like that but it's really intriguing

You can probably still find those comments in his fights from the time like vs Josesito Lopez or Kermit Cintrón. But you're right, Angulo wasn't quite the same after the Lara fight

Good job by the referee. Angulo's corner should have thrown in the towel a few rounds ago. I can't believe how slow his punches were. It seemed as if he was knocked out on his fee just sparring from muscle memory. He was a punching bag out there. He's got a hard head. I was surprised he lasted that long.

Canelo's punches are actually stopping Angulo from falling over so in that sense Canelo is being "other centered" and is showing a great deal of understanding and sympathy , he is trying to keep Angulo in the fight by smacking him back into awareness ......

For those who might not understand why Angulo was so slow and how did he manage to still gets to that level is because not only he’s a pressure fighter, it doesn’t bother him to take a lot of punches especially in the early round, he’s just usually moving forward and just trying to touch his opponent, use his physicality, and usually on the later round when his opponent is more fatigued and drained than him he really starts to put more pressure, drown his opponent into a massive amount of punches, don’t let him catch a break, and often end up TKO him, especially in the very late round, Gennady Golovkin was as well considered like a slower fighter for his division yet he was an absolute nightmare to fight, constantly walking his opponent down. You can see for example in the fight that even with the punishment he takes he still tries to constantly move forward and put pressure on Canelo. This strategy has worked tremendously during the course of his career (he was 22/2 at one point) but as you can guess not against Canelo, this is also why he was very upset about the stoppage, because considering his strategy he still thought he had a chance to win.

In case y’all didn’t know, canelo had personal business to deal with ángulo, ángulo had been trying to get with canelos girlfriend (now wife) so he had a bit of anger to get of his chest from the beginning..
