Just an update, I still have this watch, it's been four and a half years by now. The straps broke off but it was really easy to fix with some paper clips. The watch itself is still working just fine, I didn't even change the battery once and it still works like a charm. After all this time I can still recommend it, best watch I've ever had. Yeah, it does have scratches all over, but I don't really notice that too much, you can only see all of the wear and tear from up close.

One year later after this video was made and the watch is still going strong, the original battery is still there, the display hasn't dimmed at all.

This could've been the perfect watch for me if not for the negative display. I think the negative display is cool, but it's harder to read the time in negative display. I wish they had a variant that had the normal/regular display in this colorway

Advertising fanboy. 😏 There is so much design facepalm with those watches and even more so with this particular model. - White LCD backgrounds are a thing on our world! They would really help with contrast on this watch. - On the positive display models the LCD contents are more distinct compared to the labeling. On this one the labeling totally steals the show, and* it encroaches very closely to the display content at *top and bottom* with the SAME totally unnecessary statements about its lighting technology. (Take a photo and paint over "ElectroLuminescence and "Illuminator" black and you'll understand what a product designer deserves to get paid a salary for. - And all the other labeling also doesn't have to be so distinct, especially not the white elements.) - Oh and none of these watches come with the *super-useful* folding clip bands. Those should be the norm in the year 2020, because open bands are a clumsy-awkward hassle. Especially if you open them accidentally. With folding clip you can also conveniently use the watch as a pocket watch whenever you want and still quickly switch to wrist use. Also, my watch allows the band ends to angle upwards even, so it is less stiff, making it easy to handle in pocket watch mode. (Minor downside though, it should be fine.) - And then there's other tech-based facepalm considering what time we are living in: 1) The cheap plastic calculator watch has an accuracy twice as high as these models. - 2) No dual time! For some inconceivable reason this perfectly implementable feature that is typically found on ana-digi models and is also very convenient for daylight saving time is not featured in these models. This very much smells of marketing-driven design. Conclusion: My AW44's analog mode is broken, lighting is broken, and yet I bought a fresh battery for it because I don't feel like paying money for a new model that is a downgrade in almost all aspects.
