In this video, I introduce and upcoming series about the press releases and slow-motion rollout of the closure of Golden Gate Fields horse racing track located on the shore near Berkeley, California. This is a track near and dear to my heart, so I hope it's not taken as a "hit piece". I wish there was a way to keep this track open, but I hope that through these series, someone can keep their track open a little longer and that those that love the sport can engage with the local community to keep them alive and well. In this video, I quickly go over the main components of the final 5 years (or so) of Golden Gate Fields lifespan and interpret, as a fan, what it all meant to me. I hope my loss can serve as a warning to anyone else who loves their racing but might find themselves in a state that is not conducive to its flourishing... series to come, and thanks for watching.
